What wood to use?

I need to set my motors at an angle and was thinking wood would work but what kind. I have used a piece of pine 2x4 for a servo once but with mixed feelings. Hull is carbon, motor mount is metal. What type of wood will take to epoxy and work for a wedge? This is a flat piece about 3x4 inches at about 20 degree angle.

Why not lay a set up from carbon? Seems a shame to put wood in it.

For strength, use OAK! It also won't soak up water as bad as soft woods like pine, basswood, ash, etc.

as long as you coat the wood with epoxy you can use any type

I hope you're not going to put wood in that HPR!!! At least cover the wood with some carbon, or paint black? If you absolutely need to use wood do it with oak for those big motors.

Maybe I should snap a couple photos for reference. The wedge will be completely surrounded with epoxy and on top of that will have a few layers of glass with the epoxy. It's the last step and I will use whatever is available. Carbon is not. black paint is.

thanks but email was sent back. Here are a few pics. If you see the mounts are made to come apart easy for whatever and they also fit a couple diff. size motors. The solid plate is milled out on the bottom for epoxy and glass to lay in. I just need them tilted a bit as you will see with the dominos.

Don't tear it apart quite yet. I am no where near complete. Just basic structure.

Here's a thought. Why not use a peice of aluminum to prop up the front?

Make the wedge out of hardwood.

And i will send you a piece of black carbon fiber plate 1mm thick, enough to cover it.

Measure your servo set up and the wedges and i will make you a very shinny 1mm
thick black carbon fiber plate out of the spare stuff i have lying around.
Enough to do the job.
You pay the postage.
