    props sizing to match motor

Can anyone explain prop sizing to match motor without burning esc?

I have a shockwave 26 brushless and used a metal prop and quickly melted down the esc. Horizon tech states that a higher pitch will cause the motor to over heat the esc. The prop i used was an octura x535 which is actualy less pitch than stock. So with that being said i'm not sure that i need to match the pitch of a stock prop or go even lower with a metal prop?

Any help in understanding why metal props smoke esc's would be great!!

      Prop size

X432-435- they have a smaller pitch than stock. So when using metal props u need to have a smaller pitch prop correct?

          Props

Do you think an upgraded nylon prop would work better than stock without the esc burnouts?

The best way to find a prop is to test it for SHORT runs run for one minute or less and check your temps, use a stopwatch so you don't run to long. this is the most time consuming part of running electric model boats.

I have a new sharpened and balanced X438 and used sharpened and balanced X440 for sale in the swap shop if you need 'em.

I think the octura x535 is too big for this boat. Try x440x3 or 442.

If you run high rpm, then you will need the metal ones and it has nothing to do with changing pitch or diameter.

Wouldnt a 440 and 442 be way bigger than the 535 he was running? 535 is 35mm vs what you suggested 40mm and 42mm??

Sorry my bad... The 435 or 432 with 1.4 pitch are correct ones.
