    Strut Bushing Measurements

    Hey everybody,

I was wondering if anyone with a set of calipers would mind taking some measurements of their bushings and matching 3/16" prop sfafts(from the same setup/manufacturer). I am going to be making my own stainless hardware...

    Dimensions:

    Bushing length
    Bushing OD
Prop Shaft Length (from cable end to drive dog)

    Thank you!!!!!

I would not use SS bushing and SS shaft. Brass and SS makes a much better surface. The reason you see all the German and other makers use it.

My other hobby is archery and I have several take down longbows which come apart at the riser. They are always made with the outer sleeve steel, and the inner sleeve brass. The brass is softer and confirms where it needs to.

          That's what i'm doing guys...

I want the measurements of a strut bushing because I want to use a common strut bushing inside the stainless outer tube. Just like a standard speedmaster strut, but swap aluminum parts for SS.

Here's some quickies I drew up in SW to show what i'm talking about:

Bushing is .1875" ID .24" OD end nub is .125" long .375" OD

Strut bottom tube is .245"ID .375" OD; 15* chamfer on leading edge.

Strut blade is .125" thick 1" wide, 2" tall; 15* chamfer on leading edge.

                    Thank you!!!!

I think I've got a good plan, I just don't know what size tubing I need.

                      ok nearly forgot!

Looking pretty close to 5.1mm, my good calipers are no longer good so these may not super dooper acurate, but pretty close

I just happened to remove the old bushings and reeplaced them with the lead teflon bearing. There were 2 old ones with length of 0.198" each and I replace them with 2 longer lead teflon at 0.384 each.

                        Dimensions:

                        Bushing length = 0.384"
                        Bushing OD = 0.237"
Prop Shaft Length (from cable end to drive dog) = 1.117" this is from the end of the drive shaft to the forward edge of the drive dog.

                        Hope it help.

What bushing brand was this that you used? Crabstick, you too.

Thanks for the diagram, great help.

I have never bought a bushing in my life, I make my own using K&S Brass tube, I find the longer the better.

Huh. Do you put holes in it like this?

So I take it you also make your own hardware... :D
