What about running two motors geared to a single drive shaft/prop?

who makes a gear box that can handle this?

A twin hydro is more than possible. It should be done.
                    Twin Cats are so yesterday

I have done a lot of reading on this subject and have started a few good discussions on the topic.

Here is how I see it.
A twin Hydro is deffo for acceleration and the very cool factor. If you want a very fast circuit racer then a single may be better.
I do not race or really do circuits as the pond I frequent is quite narrow at one end so it it better to do SAW or drag type runs.

I am keen to do a twin hydro type build too and am working on a hull style now.
It will deffo be a 2 sponson and prop(s) rider. If effect a conventional hydro with 2 props.
The plan view of the boat will be odd but the concept remains the same.

                    Twins
For a given hull, especially a proven design, it is important to know the optimum power setup and if possible a prefered prop size and rpm.
From there it is a fair bit of hit and miss as far dividing the whole lot in half.

Twins will be heavier for a given power output.
Twins may move more water given that we may be able to move more than 2 halves of a larger prop, assuming that we run 1/2 optimum (single motor) power each side.
Acceleration could be insane !! I hope so.

Looking forward to seeing more of your ideas.
                    See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

You make your own with some flanged bearings l-stock an some robinson racing gears or order gears from BERG

Anton X went that route and ended up going to the 2230 single you see on youtube in the aeromarine talk to him. I truly think youll be happier with a single neu or try that 52 red leopard.Half way through the build youll be ready to throw her in the water but youll have alot to do with twins. Plumming, wiring ,etc.

Did you ever decide if this was the hull for you? I found some guys who are running this setup with big gas motors and doing very respectable. Seems the hull is a sleeper to most of us.

I think I may go with a Cat being this would be RTO
and they do sell a Cat to

                                but this Hydro is sick!
