Brushless I only got two runs at the very end of last season and I really didn't get a chance to prop the hull right to get any real test. If I remember right I tried a X445 prop that was detongued and back cut and it was not enough prop. I had plans to run the hull again the next weekend but never did. I changed the whole setup on the boat (ESC and motor) so I really took it easy on the boat to make sure I didn't let out any magic smoke. I plan to really see what the motor will do this season coming up though. Here are some pics of the setup that I am running now.

I've got a 1717/1580 in my new AC SP40 ready for test water(its going to be a while). I plan on running it with w/Etti 150 Race ESC on new Flight Power 6S 50C 5000s. Real test for the Etti!

Looking forward to some great speeds based on my tests with the same motor setup on 30C 6S lipo in my 40" Cat last fall.

KR joye, what were your speeds with the 1717 in your cat? I am really curious about this motor. in hydros/cats etc.

Solid Mid-50s, just ran it a couple of times to thrash the motor for my AC SP40 setup, it passed! Didn't get warm either. I won't be running motor-cooling in AC SP40 setup.

              Solved it

I solved my problem with the solder not sticking by using a 280 watt iron. It boiled the varnish off in 5 seconds and the solder flowed without problem.

Too much heat meaning a torch really. That iron is fine.

Insted of sanding the wire ends I used Dremel abrassive buff wheels . I seperated wire ends, then laid wire against hard surface, then buffed off coating. I fluxed then tinned wire ends.
