Heard back from feigao today and they are going to replace my esc! They say they will send to the Australian Dist and not to my home address, can not work that one out but as long as I get it I dont care. It just goes to show that if you feel hard done by be persistant and don't take no for an answer. I won't get to excited till I see it though!!Comment

Hmmm........ Like I said, it would be nice to have the option of no warranty. For racers or newbies that have a higher chance of loosing controllers, it would be best to get the warranty. These are also the people that make the warranty (insurance) rates so high for the rest of us. I have always tried to build fast/reliable setups and would come out better, without it.
When I got into brushless motors I lost 3 controllers in the first month. I then went on a realiablity crusade and have only lost one controller in the years since and that was because I stuffed it on a windy day. Another lesson learned. lol!!!
It is like collision insurance on your car. Do you need it or not. It all depends on the driver, if it will save them money.Last edited by ReddyWatts; 09-08-2007, 07:04 AM.ReddyWatts fleet photo

Yes Reddy I agree I am a bad man and should run 200amp plus esc's just to be on the safe side, but on the serious side have only had two esc problems and both were under very little amp draw at the time and both were brand spanking new. Have alot of esc's that get a hidding on a regular basis and have had no problems, so over all I think two out of about 10 over the last few years is quite good.Comment

I know we will not ever see a "No Warranty" option. I was just trying to say that (IMO) warranty is what makes the controllers so expensive. They are fairly cheap to manufacture. The chinese have proven this. I would guess that CC makes their controllers for under $25 a piece. Warranty and repair drives the cost up.Last edited by ReddyWatts; 09-08-2007, 07:12 AM.ReddyWatts fleet photo

I doubt whether they cost that much I have been told that the 100 amo hv esc that UN hobbies sell which by all accounts are a very good unit are manufatured for less than $10.00. Have a freind who is a electrical tech and recons he can build a 250 plus amp unit for under $50.00. Have thrown down the gauntlet and asked him to build one. He is researching as we speak and says his only problem is size.Comment
