Cutting a flat spot on a motor shaft

I need to cut a flat spot on the motor shaft for the coupler set screw. I was planning to secure the shaft with a vise and use a grinding wheel with a dremel tool freehand. Before I destroy the motor shaft, any tips?

    Thanks,
    -Chief

Take a ziplock bag and pull it over the motor. Push the shaft thru the bag so do dust gets in the motor or bearigss. You shouldn't need to hold it in a vise to do it. I've had good luck using a cutoff wheel as well, moving it back and forth across the shaft lightly. You only need a small flat oon the shaft. no need to over do it.
