How do you transport your boat to the water?

    Use your hands?
Do you use a purchased case?
    Did you make a case?

    Please include pictures whenever possible.

I just got my first boat, I think I'll start off with a small PVC pipe stand with a strap to hold it in place while in the car. Then just carry it to the water.

However, I think I may build a case in the future.

From what I've seen people build PVC stands.
I just build mine out of packing foam, works well and it is free at work :)

I transport my boats with my car ...sorry, couldn' resist

Closed cell foam works great to make custom carriers out of...cut it with an electric carving knife and glue it with contact cement.

The PVC route seems popular and easy, lucky you to have extra foam laying around.

I'm not familiar with closed cell foam, a quick google resulted in some sheets of foam. Are you saying you glued them together and cut out the shape of the hull? Can you provide pictures?

Yeah well it sure beats trying to carry all this from the truck to the pond. Depending what side Of the pond I run on, it can be a 1/4 mile walk.

The stand is two piece so i can fit it inside my Nitro, the princess sits beside it, 1/4 inch from the dash, all 95 inches. The case is a custom made 9.8 feet long with heavy duty straps for 4 folks, though two of us can handle it fine, inside has the collector car fabric to prevent damage during transport.

I use a double stacked PVC stand that fits inside of a 36"x18"x18" Easton hockey gear bag that has roller wheels on one end for easy pulling. The bag is large enough to hold a 24" hydro and a 32" mono on the rack with room on the side for a canvas bag for tools. This bag fits in the trunk of my car, which is nice. The outside of the bag has another compartment that was made for ice skates that fits a couple transmitters perfectly. The best thing was the bag was only $25 on sale.

i wont break the business url post, but finding the closed cel flotaion or structural foam in blocks or sheets is easy.

search the web for custom foam slab floatation and packing, phrase it like that. Many custom case companies will also tell you where to get anytype of bulk, round whatever type you need, just takes a few phone calls and some searching, i do it all the time.

on side note lowes and home depot have both closed (dense spongy) and open cell (floation) in the round long cyclinder types in various sizes, they are in the faucet and pipe iunsulation section. you can use these as others have said for transport stands or flotation inside your rig.

This thread motivated me to complete my Boat Stand - - Making it a proper Carrier as well. I added 1” nylon strapping secured to the ¾” Poplar cross members with brass screws & finishing washers, then used quick release adjustable Interlocking Buckles to connect the straps. Now I’ll be able to carry DaBoat to the launch site in one hand, while holding my radio in the other . . . .
