Remove everything out of the boat that you possible can including velcro. Then pour in a cup full of Denatured Alcohol and slush it around. That will remove the brown gunk. Do this several time and you will have the cleanest boat in the fleet. That will make a big dent in the smell but, then spray the boat with Citrus Matic or any other product that eliminates odors.

I now carry rubber gloves in my parts bag when i go to the lake because a smelly boat is one thing but when you get that stench on your hands trying to pull everything apart, it gets inpregnated into your skin. Its a wonderfull night when you sit down for your first evening meal and bring the fork to your mouth and the smell overrides the food your eating. LOL ...........Good Times!!

Meythal hydratre otherwise know as truck gas line anti-freeze. Wipe on and wipe off. It is used to thin shelac and you would not believe how in 5 minutes it will take out 90% of what the old timers took several months to do :)
I try and avoid paste eaters.

For those inquisitive minds that must know:

Methyl Hydrate is available in your local hardware store. So, for those of you who desire deeper scientific knowledge about Methyl Hydrate (also known as Methanol, Methyl Alcohol, Wood Alcohol, and Wood Spirits) ...

          worth a try!

And yes m4a1usr - I looked that one up too! Then I remembered from high school chemistry class a long time ago that, that SMELL. Could've done without that memory....

For those that are cheap, like myself, piss on it and let it dry, works great but the resulting odour reminds you of parking lot stairwells!

I worked for a restoration company for a while. We used this stuff called 9D9 and its sole purpose was to get rid of smoke oder in houses that had fires. I use denatured alcohol to clean all the black out then spray a little of the 9D9. You can usually find this stuff at a janitorial supply business.
