    kb 45xl speed controler

i have finally got my dads challenger running reliably on a 14xl on 20 cells with a hydra 120. the problem is this setup is to much power for the hull. she goes great in smooth water but after a few laps are made and she runs in her own wake it chine walks like crazy. we choose the deep vee for it's rought water capabilities and she's running like a hydro

what we want to do is go to a 39" fountain or a 43" challenger. will the kb45xl be within the limits of our speedo? will this setup still power us into the mid to high 30's? will 8-12" make a difference in her rough water capabilitY?

    thanks

If your motor is a KB45, are you sure it is a 14XL or is it a Feigao?

Most all the boats in that Challenger size range will run well in 2-4" chop at around 25-30mph. Once the wind picks up and the waves get larger, all has changed.

The 45kb will be in the 70-100 amp range. I would feel more comfortable running a higher amp esc.

sorry. i should have been more clear, it's a fieago but with a bigger hull we'd go to the bigger motor

A KB45/9XL on 18 cells using a Hydra 120 with a X642 prop should use 90 amps and run about 35-40 mph at 25000 rpm for a large hull..

An X640 prop will use 80 amps at close to the same speed, but not sure how well it will get that size of boat on plane.

Fiegao or KB45? I would recommend a KB45 10XL if you are using 20 cells, 75 amps on a X642 at 24000 rpm, same speed. The Fiegao is too small for a 34 -45" hull, without a trans.

                  I think Steven only sells a 12,10,9 and 8xl in the KB45?

Ha I have my moments too. The 11XL is for a higher voltage setup, but I will look at it for you.

                      11XL 60 amps, 30 - 35 mph at 21000 rpm using a X642 prop.
                      70 amps on a X645 at 23000 rpm at 32-38 mph.

I still like the KB45 10XL if you are using 20 cells, 80 amps on a X642 at 24000 rpm, running 1800 watts.

If you wanted to really push the 10XL over 40, a X645 prop using 100 amps at 23000 rpm 2300 watts. Just need to really watch your temps and raise the strut if running a cat.

How many volts is that on Mr Watts?

20 NiMH cells for 24 volts.

10XL on 6s Lipo's is 70 amps on a X640 for 40mph at 25000 rpm, if all of these new numbers are correct in FeCalc.? Need someone to test them. They should be in the ball park.
