I have a Andy Brown Mongoose that ran a ops 65 and place 3rd in the Nats. The boat is still set up as it was then. I want to put a brushless set up in it. What should i go with?I plan to change the existing hardware to a new CDMI strut and rudder .I m a little older than some but this boat was built Ken Stone and Curtis Samuel from O.K.C. model boat club in Oklahoma City . It placed 3rd in nats in Witchta Kansas back many eons ago. It was extremely fast then on a OPS 65. I ve had it sitting around and want to do a brushless set up in it. It is a dinosaur by todays standards but this was a championship hull and set up in its day;it should certainly be good for some fire water fun.Any sugesstions? This hull is weighing in at 5 pounds. When it ran it ran a octura1667 on an OPS 65.

No takers? I was thinking maybe a scorpion 4035 800 for starters. What size neu would this hull take? The hull is 38 inches.I wonder if cdmi can fit some newer sponsons on this tub.Attached Files -
Are you wanting a SAW boat or a heat racer or play boat?
The 67 size nitro would be good Q or S power boat with something like a Neu 1527. Was it a 3/16" or 1/4" cable boat?

Although you can fit 10S up front, I think most motors will overpower a 3/16" cable on 10S.
If you are willing to retrofit up to 1/4" you can power up. Maybe you could run a 0.090" wire drive if the stuffing tube has a single gentle bend.
My 10S set-up in my cat was designed for a rigger, so a 2215 1.5Y with appropriate controller would be awfully fast. You would also want to shoot for prop shaft speeds close to what normal nitro rigger run although you ca have a 25% increase in RPM, but i wouldn't recommend 50% or more.

Look at Castle's motor/esc chart for boating.
I would also lighten the hull up some by removing and grinding out unnecessary weight.
www.Hobbycity.com has the best price on lipos and chargers.
ABC prop H-18 or S-20 should go fast

TTH here it is when I asked about this boat all the kids had to go in I guess the street lights came on besides if your no guru theres no point of talking about boats like these. Pure race. This hull has taken @ least 3rd in several national events before these kids were walking. Howd you manage to get your hands on one? I went through alot of underground channels to get mine. This one was set up a trimmed by one of the best Kenneth Stone OKC model boat club!It was ran buy my friend Curtis Samuel that retired it in favor of the original eagle which is now been redisigned as the eagle sgx another pure race boat no toys here.It has the works :adjustable booms etc.A few sugguesting carving out my tub for weight. Hell no when they fly off the water from being too light. Ill just have to buy a hogg 2215 ,1527, 350 pletti, or something similar you wont find any 4000 watt outrunners in this boat I want 5200 watts or better in this boat. Plus u dont carve out 400 plus dollar rigger hulls. this isnt a renegade this is an ANDY BROWN mongoose! Let em hate on that my boy. There are people on ose that down andy brown so you know there some real village idiots on here .I happen to not be one of them I just have 20 plus years of experiences and boats that have the tropies and builders to back it up.Outrunners suck up torque cause the weights so far from the point of rotation. It takes more to spool them up more to slow them down an inrunner is better for a race in my opinion.Last edited by Xfactor; 06-21-2010, 04:15 PM.Comment
