Well it was the first rc boat I ever had I bought it about 5 months ago. It got me started into boats and FE and it keep me happy for about 3 weeks until I bout a SV and then a UL and now waiting for something else. I need to keep it in action some how and after I had to take a swim in december in a freezing cold lake to retrive my SV the idea was born...

                A bit spartan.

I went a bit over the top on this one but she served us well. This thing drew a lot of attention.
I didn't use it anymore after hooking up with the Atlanta club, so I gave it to Chris Harris for him and his son.

I found this Pool cleaner somewhere on the 'net. Should work great as well right out of the box. Twin drive. Don't know about the range though, but Rx should be upgradeable... Just remove the front hoop or invert it.

Dang! That's piece of engineering! Cooool!

The lifting mechanism use a giant 1/4 scale servo to lower and lift a wire rack on a winch over an 18" range.
                    Here are some pics.
Wolf this is the rescue boat you saw at Questek's, house in action.

                        Thanks Sailr,

It took awhile to come up with the design for the lifting mechanism and then learn about how to modify a servo so that I could have it make 10 full rotations lock to lock using my third channel on my radio. That servo is incredible. It can lift and hold a 10lb can of nuts and bolts without straining.
The enginnering part of it was what I really enjoyed.

They say necessity is the mother of invention, and this is the result of that.
The closest lakes that I can run my boats on do not allow swimming or full size boats so I needed something to be able to recover my boats. This originally was a push type design that I stole from Diegoboy, but I was having issues pushing my hydro when it flipped. It would just want to submerge when it was pushed. The lift gets the boat out of the water quickly and allows for a quick rescue.

The next modification I want to do is put a wireless camera on it to aid in the long range rescues when it is a little windy. That will help me in lining up the rescue boat with the boat to be rescued.
                        Have a good one,
                        Brad
