So what is the safest way to store them? I worry about putting batteries with connectors in metal boxes? Right now I keep them next to my furance where there is nothing else to burn.

question
according to the info given is my understanding right when I say The Lipo batteries should be store in cinderblock with a plastic bag filled with sand in order to prevent fires, when charging, discharging, and storing,.what would you say to storing lipos in the winter time.(where and when)Yes Lipo fires can and do happen scary stuff can be lurking in them batteries. This is another great example of why you Never Ever did I say Never! leave Lipo hooked up to anything unattended.

The video of the plastic sandbag cover over cinderblock has me sold so simple but yet so effective.

I keep them in my bedroom in a tool box. This keeps the temperature constant (cold kills them).
A discharged-for-storage (30% level) LiPo is not going to cause problems unless shorted out. The 30% level minimizes damage due to non-use.

A box in my fire place. In my opinion this is the BEST place to have a fire. What could go wrong, fumes go up with smoke so it should be safe?PT-45, 109mph, finally gave up after last bad crash
