I just looked at their ebay site again... Says they are in Orlando USA... If thats the Oralndo FL.. they are about an hour or so East of me. Perhaps I could pay them a visit as a "newb" to see what they feed me. Im heading that way in the next week or 2.
Would you pay them a visit as a "newb"? It'd be interesting to see what an expert at their location has to "offer".

Maybe if they made no reference to racing in their advertising I would be less annoyed. I mean you "could" (somebody could) argue that they're okay sport boats. It might not be able to actually compete in a NAMBA or IMPBA class but it might be an okay toy. Looks all techy inside. If I hadn't built a bunch of boats over the years maybe I'd dig it.

Those hydro videos look a little harry but they never go straight long enough for them to really air out and I'd like to see one take a corner. Same with the cats. Show me a turn.

Heck, find someone I trust to test some boats. Haines and Martin are right there in Florida with them. There's some serious FE talent all over Florida. Get some help. They're just expensive pretty toys the way they've done it.

No stages.. if.. and IF I were to get another one of these.. it certainly would be from that link or if my LHS could get another.. but Id get it as stripped as possible as I would not use anything in it.. for that build anyway.

I am currently running the motor that came with Vantex hull (Fusion 2045KV) and the ESC that came with it that looks in everyway like a Turnigy... or was it SeaKing.. maybe Seaking.. in my PB BJ26 on 3S with a... 637, I think, prop. Nothing breaks 100 degrees and it will run mid 30s. Its been a lot of fun in it. It actually is perfect for that boat.

Heres a pic of the motor and esc that came in it. The ESC was re-covered as I cut the originall black heatshrink off it to try and figure out what it was

Well, here it goes. I am new to this forum and FE boats, although I have messed around with slow model boats as a kid with my grandfather.

I emailed Steven a few weeks ago about upgrading my old PT boat to make it run faster. Subsequently, my wife saw me burn up the stuffing box (big puff of smoke) in the garage for my first test. Being the wonderful wife she is, she went and surprised me with a 32" cat from g-freak (hull and hardware only).

                I haven't received it yet...

You are in the right place. Check out some Cat builds and videos and get an idea what you want from your hull, then Steven and the other experts on this site will help you get your cat going. If it were me I'd put a SV27 or BlackJack setup in it as a learning/starter FE boat.
I'm sure there are others who know better than I, as I don't run catamarans, but there's my 2 cents worth.
                  Welcome!

Steven already hooked me up with a feigao 540xl (1898kv) and hydra 120 for my pt boat that i want to try in this cat. I also have a 3s lipo, which i am trying to return for a 5s at this moment.

Hopefully that will be good enough to start learning on.

I think that the 52" cat is too big, but the 32" can be a good start for a fast electric offshore.

                          Miss G Freak, why not

Excellent excellent choice. Ive been ruinning the 8xl for about 2 weeks in mine and ordered this am the 9xl.

SIMONEN, let me know if you need any info as I have this 32" hull DIALED...

Good luck. You will love the hull... hardware, if its anything like mine will be less desired. Im curious to see if they changed the stuffing tube. (if its the black flexible tube with the spiral inner metal lining. Shaft goes into a 4mm) If not, plan on doing that before you even run it.

Thanks, I am feeling a little more comfortable about this. Of course, I would just tell my wife I loved it anyways even if it completely sucked. I don't want to discourage her from buying me these things, hehehe.

Why would I want to go with a 4S vs. 5S lipo? Is it a fear of burning up the motor/ESC or more of just a user control issue?

ESC will be running pretty much at its full capacity. Too Much of that and.... "Puff, the magic smoke.. lives in your hull..."

A 9xl on a 442 will get you in the low 40s. You will be happy. Its a fantastic hull at that speed.
