The guy i bought this boat from told me that the bottom of the hull is a proboat black jack. What do you guys think about feigaos 580 12L and running them on 8s lipos. A friend told me i could probablly run octura x455 props and just change the flex shafts out. What do you all think???

I still think the 580's don't have the power nor the mass to drive that big hull... to each it's own though. On 8s the 2220/1Y would boogie...
BTW you can still use the 1/4 shaft, but get the one that has a shaft with a step down to 3/16...

Thanks for your advice Ub but i just dont want to spend that kind of money on this boat. Honestly i dont need a boat that will do 70mph i just want something to mess around with in the canal behind my house. I really just need something fun and reliable and i dont think i want to spend much more than $200-$300 for the motors.

To put the 6XL in perspective.

I run one in my bigger rigger on 4S to a 642 prop as a max
I can run it to a 637 for more fun time.
A 640 is good for speed but the run time falls off

The 6XL is a rpm motor. Big props or big hulls will make it produce smoke fast, That smoke may come from the motor, esc or pack.

Either way a 55" hull is going to be monster to power with FE.
            See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

Well what about twin 580s that have 1000kv on 6s (22,000rpm)...?
could see speeds in the low 40s? maybe, possibly, sort of, not sure?

580's are still not in the ball park. With a hull this big and heavy you need something like 2230 1.5y and 10s pushing props in the 70mm area

To replace a Zenoah I would go for the Neu1900zr drop in Zenoah replacement from fastelecrics on 10s1p per side.

How about having your cake and eating to too? I have two big Little Screamers for $169 each that will run on a Monster 2000 for around $189 and Trunigy cells 10S2P will do the trick. I am testing or building two boats a 65 inch Cat with twins and the 1/8 pro boat with a single in it.

If you don't want to spend the Money then listen to everyone because if you do what your thinking you are going to fry everything in the boat. Then you will have nothing.

You might want to try Twin Scorpion 4035 Out runners. $169 ea. Go with 2 Turnigy Controllers 150amp at least. But you are going to need 10s2p to get that thing moving at least 40mph

On second thought take the Money and go to Vegas. You have a better chance of not loosing it there.

2230's and 70mm props? Good grief man. I dont have that much pushing a 70" cat. Besides that I dont know anyone that would put that much into a proboat...hehe

I am starting to wonder that my self... I got the boat for a really good deal just to run it in the canal behind my house. I have a couple brushless cars and planes and figured why not a boat.

Save yourself a lot of money and put a single Zenoah back in it. They run ok with that setup. Don't spend any more than that on it. It looks pretty nice but handles like @%#@*&@X#@!!
My brother has dumped a lot of money modifying his Zenoah to make it fast, and it is, but it flips over very easily. It's a straight line boat, in good water. It can roll over from it's own wake.
