The question also needs to be asked eventually,,,,just how "cheap" do you want things,,,,,,it all comes at a price (pun intended)

i was looking for a cheap 2.4 and bought the spetrum 2.4 with the telementry...it was not the cheapest but i LOVE the temp guage..no more pulling the boat in to check temps just drive and enjoy and the controller gives you real time temp reading and you can even hook uo the rpm sensor..it might be a bit more then the cheap radios but you will love the convenience of all the options

There are some exceptions to the old saying "You get what you pay for", but why risk a boat worth at the least several hundred dollars to a "cheap" radio. At least go with something that is proven. Tactic seems to be the answer from the responses.

The cool thing about hobbycity is they put customer reviews of the items on the actual product pages.

The reviews in blue are certified that that person owns the product.

                  Try reading them sometime.

Not everyone puts their applications in their reviews. That can have an impact on performance.

We tested that radio for the manufacturer. It is pure crap! Don't bother. Get the TACTIC. As far as range, I have NEVER gone out of range with a Tactic. I have three transmitters and 16 receivers and they are all flawless.

Remember, buy the time you add freight on the stuff from HK, it's really not that much cheaper.

I have used my tactic in a boat and in my slash. Works great. Only issue is i can stand on a hill play with the slash about 300 feet away, and if i drive behind where the car is parked it wont work. Im assuming its line of sight? My buddys AM can go way beyond mine. It could be because its in the traxxas waterproof box?

Thats funny you say that if im on flat surface its perfect but i go over a little hill or behind a car and it doesnt respond but i dont see a problem with hills on the water lol
