A pal tested the HK one and it seems ok, if a bit cheap looking... They disappear from stock instantly at that price...

The TActic is a tested and a 2.4 ghz that is great for the value, their rx units are a bargain and WORK on boats. It is cheap looking and has very few features but it works. now go out and buy one and stop looking for a piece of cheap crap!

Tower Hobbies has one that appears to be almost identical to the Tactic, but the RCVR is only 2 channels instead of 3. I have one & it works fine . . . so far.

Boater76,call ahead before comitting for the drive.Just in case, not all LHS carry lots of stuff for rcboats,so don`t be dissapointed if you visit one and don`t see our much needed stuff in stock.Probably some RTR boats stacked on shelves and may be 1 or 2 Dumas kits. But still,if it is a well visited shop worth the visit just to see all the planes, trucks and helis, plus motors, batteries chargers etc including radios!!!.....

You are better off to buy the Tactic from Offshore electrics!

Another thing I love about the Tactic is that the receiver has NO ANTENNA. Nothing sticking outside the boat. And the receiver only costs $25! I got rid of a bunch of really expensive FM radios and converted all of my boats to Tactic. I currently have 3 transmitters and 16 receivers. I have NEVER had a glitch!

As another choice, Airtronics has a Tx/Rx deal right now for $100 I believe. It has multiple model memories, etc. etc. I have three of them and they are great also. Problem is the receivers are like $90 each and they still have an external antenna.

I have bought some of the super cheap Chinese radios and won't ever go there again!

I think the radio looks funny, but I have read many who really like it..
I myself have 4 Tactic radios and like them and 1 DX2.0

Salir is right, don`t spend 1-2hrs driving plus gas$$ in order to save a few bucks.Just order it from OSE/Steve,from the commodity of your house!!,great guy to deal with and fast shipper. I really only did it `cause my LHS is only 15min from my house...........plus was buying me a 2.4 heli for Christmas.....
                        Good point Salir!!!,...........Albert

What is the working range of the tactic? How about the the traxxas 2.4? It looks pretty nice. One thing that i can see is that traxxas has an antenna, you can get the h20 proof box for it, and traxxas has a pretty good warranty on products.

that could be a great idea to use with other rx
I use clear electrical tap spray on all my rx and they never glitch..

Or there is the team losi one, and that rx does fit in the traxxas box with some trimming. I think they can be had for around 60 also
