I ordered one today from Hobby City for $ 79.99. [ Gold level member] No shipping charge since it was included in battery order. My first one got submerged; first the BEC quit, then one run later I pulled the trigger & a big pop/spark & it died completely. Works as good as a Hydra 240 - it'd cost me $ 150 to get an out-of-warrantee 240 replaced so I'll try another 180 & try to keep it above water

Yes I bought one for same price US$ 79.99

Even before placing it in a boat, using silicone water isolation on all live electrical parts.. Even if water is not supposed to come inside... Waves sometimes..

So not to be sorry, I rather use preventive maintenance than band aid cure.

The water pump I selected is one which is able to work 24/7 :

At least it continues to cool down the ESC when boat is stopped on water..
This pump is not power hungry. standard 12 Volts.
Thermaltake P-500 Supplier reference: CL-W0132. Price: Depends on the local dealer profit margin, but shouldn't be over US$ 50

Factory warranty on the Seakings is 180 days after the end user purchases. You should be able to send it back to HobbyCity!

I don't think the warranty will cover this.

I thought they were advertised as waterproof?

Here's the full story : The SC got wet when the boat blew over & lost the hatch. I corrosion-x'd the outside of the 180 and let it sit for three days. Tested fine. Four days later I did a few laps & the BEC quit. Disconnected the red wire, borrowed a Rx pack and did a few more laps, all good. Next day bench tested, armed, pulled trigger and loud pop and spark. Dead. Looked like slight condensation inside the 180. Ordered the new one[Turnigy label] from HK. I got the original one[labeled Seaking] from you, Jim. Will HK warrantee that one ? Or what ?

Water proof or water resistant? Here in lies the legal ramifications of what will be covered. We are at the mercy of these folks as they make the final call as there are different view points as to what constitutes water proof versus water resistant.

Sorry she crapped on you but considering the submersion, etc. I'm not sure that they would warranty it. I think they would balk at the use of the corrosion X also. You could certainly try to send it back to them. Cost to ship it may not be worth it though.

Absolutely right. I always have to laugh at what Castle told a friend of mine one time. He sent in a bad ESC and they said "Oh! You got it wet!" DOH! They were advertised as waterPROOF! They backed off and warrantied it after a heated argument.

ESC's continue to be our achilles heel! Still haven't seen a perfect one regardless of the cost. I remember watching one guy blow TWO $650 Schulze's in one day....on plug-in! My opinion of late is that if I can get an ESC for $100 that is just as reliable as one costing $400-500, then why the hell buy the expensive one?!!
