Nice work on the 1000 posts
Can you get a water jacket for that motor? Like is there another one out there that are fitting? Thinking if you wana get your money back on it to fund what you wana do i could buy it off you for what you paid, not that i really need another motor, but always good to have em around i guess. What about Geoff, wouldnt he want it for his X2 comin?

Back in the 1980's I got into R/C boats hot and heavy. I had been an airplane enthusiast for years and the boats were a cool change. I raced for about 3 years but the problem with boats was no consistency. You change nothing from one race to the next and the thing runs like crap. Stuff breaks all the time. Buttheads run over your boat...on purpose...to keep you from winning the race. etc. etc. etc.

It so burned me out that I quit all R/C activity for 15 years. Then in the 90's I got back into flying R/C airplanes. So refreshing, the plane flies the same every time..it will do all sorts of great maneuvers, not just go around in circles, etc. Nobody tries to run into you! haha.

Then about 3 years ago I got back into boats. I'm starting to dislike them again. You go to the races one day and everything is perfect. The next time out, although you have changed NOTHING, none of your boats will run right. It is just a maddening experience sometimes.

I am almost at the point, once again, to return to airplanes. If I do, I will NEVER go back to boats again. It is amazing to me that something as simple as a boat can be such a pain in the butt while something as complex as an airplane is not! I come away from running my boats all stressed out but return from the flying field totally relaxed.

But one thing remains, I will NEVER leave R/C!

Can feel your frustration OZ,i burned 3 escs in about 3 weeks,2 Turnigys and 1 Etti,Dee repaired the Etti but waiting for summer to set the boats up again.
My helis never burn anything out and using my boat lipos so all not lost.
We run our gas boats now, nothing ever burns on those and just as fast.
Bigger too so better for friendly racing with the lads.Plus we easily get about 1 1/2 hr. running time every time we go the lake.

Keeping buying Escs just gets rediculous and i just cant see the value of an expensive componant in a small boat that only runs for about 5-6 mins.
            Slow gets boring fast.

              Ozzie.

              3 esc's in less than 1 minute ?
              All three Hydra's or a false boat-setup ?

Sorry to hear about your loss Ozzie.....

I could guess what you feel..... I just burned an ESC on the third run and is very upset about it. At least it was not an expensive one and did not damaged the hull......

Nevertheless this hobby is supposed to be fun..... but can be frustrating and expensive at times.....

I always take my sailboat with me to the lake when I go boating. At least if my FE let me down I play with the sailboat to get my boat fix. It never breaks down and there is no ESC and motor to worry about.....

                Good luck

                Cheers

i think most of us in FE have felt my frustration at one time or another.
one of the esc,s that blew was user error the other 2 i will put down as bad luck.
FE to me and probably others is not just a hobby but an outlet of sorts, when the going gets tough the tough go boating.
in saying that iam at that point of either selling all my gear and moving on or debating if i can spend the next 6 months getting back to were i was a few weeks ago

I know where you are coming from - today I had and ESC go up in flames in one boat and either the motor or ESC crapped out in another boat - double whammy!

Ozzie how many amps does that MM draw? I may be able to help with an esc if it is not above 100 amps

Scott, sorry to read about your troubles mate. Don't give up though, if you sell the rigger you should be able to get some decent money for it (that's a pretty simple repair job).

Rob (FFRB) was selling a Hydra 120 a while ago pretty cheap, or you could look at a Seaking 180 for your MM.

                        Cheers,

thanks paddy but dont think a 100a esc would last long especialy the way things have been going latley
thanks everyone for there comments, the xzess is sold.
not sure what i would do if i stopped FE,the riggers sold if i sell the motor as well i may buy a vs-1 and start again.
if anyone buys the last vs-1 from steve in the next week or so may your arm pits become infested with a thoasand fleas

This crap really does suck. The part i dont understand is why these ESC's cant hold up. I have not seen the water in my SAW boat in two months. I had Two ESC's smoke on the bench during programing and you sit there saying outloud NO! NO! NO! as you watch in disbelief. Then you plug in the third and all is well....will see sunday morning.....but who knows. I tell you the Worst ...."BEST" thing i ever bought was a GPS and you know i dont have to say anymore because you all know what i mean LOL.

Sorry to hear about the XS3 and the ESC'S, Scott.

The same thing happened to the DF29 i built for my brother, after 3 min running we burnt a new Fiegao 9XL and the V1 Seaking 180A running 4S and a x440(mild setup).

He felt the same way you do at the moment, But after getting the ESC swapped over under warranty for a new V2 Seaking 180A and a Neu 1415-1Y,(2200) He couldnt be happier.

I can highly recommend the Seaking 180-A ESC ,super smooth, easy to program, reliable BEC.

Ozzie mate a 1512 1y is not the right motor for a boat the physical size of a xs3, and when pushed can consume HUGE amps. I ran a 1512 2d in my xs2 (smaller and lighter hull) and it was hot set up with a x642. Bloody fast though. What props and packs did you use. I heard somewhere you were going to use 6s?????. PM me about an old cc240 I have , been used and abused but still works
