Thank guys, I think I'll have to decide between the DX3 and the Fasst which I have used both Spektrum and Futaba in the past but never in a boat.Oh and one of the boats I am having trouble w/ is CF but only layed at the bottom but I did have trouble with a stock UL-1 which is where the radio comes from.
Which 2.4 system ?

Earlier Spektrum stuff DID have issues in boats... This new stuff, specifically the DX3S and MR3000, were designed with BOATs in mind... they are completely different systems and function quite flawlessly...Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

Not that I know of, though I have suggested that to them. I think that, due to it's model memory and it's usage for cars/trucks/boats, as well as telemetry vs. non-telemetry RXs, they figure you are going to buy the RX you need for it, based on your model needs...Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

FASST for me as well.
I have seen them all and side by side.. and it looks as if SPK has there stuff "Fixed".
OK.. thats good..
Using Futaba I have NEVER had a SINGLE failure OF ANYKIND. Very early "very early" Futaba had an issue with RX heat. I still use those older RXs and I can not make them fail.. (Even taped up in a gas boats, Nitro and FE)
Having said this you might want to go and figure out why your Tactic is not doing what you want..
BTY.. IF you can tell the speed difference on the water you are a FAR better wheel then I. Truth is when it comes to RC boating its so far removed from important.... its just fun to banter play with the those that say there are the FASTEST!.. hahha
ROCK AND ROLL
Bottom line.. CHOSE YOUR WEPION AND GO HAVE FUN!

I did not say or imply that you made anything up. All I did was report my direct experience. Early generation Futaba FAST receivers would have issues with high temps. They went into failsafe when they reached a temp of 150 degrees or so. Easy fix for a boat was not to allow the RX to bake exposed directly to the sun. Throw a rag over it and the issue became a non-issue.
Newer generations of FASST receivers have been shown to be far less temperature sensitive. But again, to me letting your radio gear get to temps of 150 degrees was not a good idea in the first place.
I will reaffirm what I said. Not once have I had a temperature related issue with any of my FASST receivers. Nor have I ever witnessed one in the many, many FASST systems that are in use in my area.
Perhaps you saw my post in one of the threads you cited:

It would be very helpful if, when making statements like this, more specifics were given as to the Model, etc., of the parts...
Earlier Spektrum stuff DID have issues in boats... This new stuff, specifically the DX3S and MR3000, were designed with BOATs in mind... they are completely different systems and function quite flawlessly...
I am not here to bash any product but I have been working with a club member who has a new DX3S with 2 MR3000 RX and is haveing some issues but I also know people who have them and love them with no issues so like I said I am not raitting any products just saying what works for me.
I am done with the raido war
Thanks
