    delta force testing

    my hardware list/setup
    540 6l $60
    DR mount $7.50
    water jacket $20
    barracuda 80
    thrust bearing $7
octura strut with 2" bracketmounted on a .5"standoff
fuller's precision hardware kickup rudder assy w/4" bracket
those nice turn fins that everyone wants adjusted all the way up
    adjustable trim tabs $18
    cg at 24.5%
    2s2p lipos
in race water on an x435 and virtually no test time/setup by eyeball was running in the top 3 of a field of 6. motor was 115F after 6laps(I cut a buoy), 2nd run was quickerfinished 2nd :). could it go faster on my budget set-up...er possibly I'm getting indications that the esc is starting to have to work 120-125F definatly needs some strut/trim tab adjusting was starting to get 'squirrely' mid straights (1/8th mile course) think I would call this a good starting point. would suggest getting a 120amp(or better) esc though. oh and the standard 'non-smelly' epoxy makes a nice hull cleaner.

sorry it was late and I was short on sleep. yes it is the 25.5" df 12, no running pics from yesterday exist, no photographer( I refuse to try to snap pics when I'm racing, with 5 other boats it can get pretty hairy).
          edit
forgot to mention, with that setup I'm having to run my tx d/r (steering) at 50%. that boat doesn't need a lot of rudder travel, and it can handle left turns too :).

I've actually found that I needed to electronicly slow the steering servo down in both my 25.5 and 33 (I'm running a TX that can do that for me). It's got me rethinking my servo choices. You're right, they don't need much steering.

You my find that the CG likes to be a bit further forward. I'm at ~30% in the boat I ran at the Nats.

you may well be right about the cg atm mine has a total of lessee 9 runs on it. 3 of those were with the new strut/setup in race conditions...I'm thinking that cg placement is a function of availible power, the more power you have the further forward the cg needs to be(with in reason of course).

I've got the 25.5 heat racing at ~50mph and the 33 is very close to 60 but not quite dialed yet. Both boats need to be driven, they can't be held full throttle and expect to finish.

These hulls seem to like big props. X440/3 on the 25.5 and an X450/3 on the 33.

I won N2 OS running the 25.5 with a 2700kV motor and a Prather P220, Handling was fantastic.

I would like to know how the 33 Delta stacks up the the Triton. I need a large mono for next year and am quite torn. Opinions guys?

                        That's easy...

2007 P-Mono and P-Offshore Championships... and records in both classes...

The boat ROCKs with 4S Lipos and decent power... It thinks it's a more stable platform at high speeds than the Triton... but... it needs to have decent power...

For our modern power systems, it's 'da-bomb...

This is an obscure observation, but you guys raced in June during the day, but for some reason people had coats on! Is it still winter in June other there? :D

It did everything but SNOW during those 5-days...

OH, another promising looking option for a big P-Mono is the No-Step 4... Ken Haynes raced one with a big Neu motor and 4S lipos and it looks like it will be FAST...

Got to love that huh??? 36"+ P boat. Where will it stop??

IMO, the proposed 33"max rule for P is on track in the I.M.P.B.A.
