Really? It worked at the IMPBA SAWS a couple of years ago. I paid my $10 and was good to go although a NAMBA member. Maybe it has changed. I do know they changed their insurance company or coverage since then.

I think... and this from what I understand goes for both orgs

You have to be a member of either NAMBA or IMPBA to qualify for the 10 dollar race fee if you race out side of NAMBA or IMPBA..

      Hum.. that’s hard to qualify..

      Lets see..

To race for the 10 dollar fee in a IMPBA event you must be a current member of NAMBA.. of vice a versa..

Still not sure that came out right..

If your a current NAMBA member then you can pay the $10 for the single IMPBA event.

          Just stating facts, guys....

You can only pay $10 one time (according to the rules),
it'll be a while until we get a unified set of rules... it would be VERY, VERY nice
to have one set of official rules.

Then we could have specialty "nitro" and "gas" classes.
Sounds very tempting but having another association to "crowed the kitchen" ?!
              I think not.

Douggie, I follow F1 and if you do, you'll know that FIA is in making all these rules that the drivers and teams are NOT very keen on... it has become a political game instead of a race. Just look at the scandal that just happened with Renault...

                Michael is right..

One can not just pay a 10 dollar fee to race one event in NAMBA or IMPBA.. you have to be a memeber of one or the other to qualify for that fee..

Hea.. I think I got it!..or mike got it and im just adding to our carbon foot print.. SASQUACH STYLE!

                  Grim,
Exactly what I meant. Maybe I didn't state it correctly. You must belong to ONE of the two organizations. I belong to NAMBA but can run at an IMPBA meet by paying an extra $10 for the insurance. I know the opposite is still try in NAMBA from a race we were at three weeks ago. Could be IMPBA has changed that rule. Not sure.

Jan, I have followed F1 for 45 years and the rules change every year and I do agree with you as it has become a politcal circus...ERNIE

My hero is Jim Clark, but technology advances demand new rules and if you wish to race, yes you might have to build a new boat. I am in favour of racing that allows the old/vintage specs to survive as a series. Even if all the clases ran together, it would just be FUN

I find its funny how quickly people will criticize the rules, but are not participating by being a member and voteing. Or better yet, being a member and helping to write rules, help develop a club… Yada yada yada… I think you get my point.

                      Mike Ball
Yeah then you have the guy who says he spent hours helping a Dist, director, comes on here bashing the org., and has absolutly NO IDEA what the rules are. Why, because it's easier to bitch and complain than it is to get involed and oh I don't know, read, or write a proposal,or perhaps just vote . Give me a break.

If you don't vote, at the very least, a you don't have an opinion and should as far as I'm concerned.

                      Off of the soapbox.
BTW I'm IMPBA because that what we have here. If it were NAMBA country, I'd be a NAMBA member and just as involved.

                      Have a great day fellas!!!

I'm a member of both. I race my FEs with my NAMBA club in Madison, and race my nitros with my IMPBA club in Racine. My IMPBA (nitro) club has been letting me run my UL-1 in the nitro sport 20 class as well though... who knows they might even add a FE class next year due to increased interest in FE.

I'm a member of OSE. Does that count?

We have boat clubs here, but none are NAMBA or IMPBA. Would like to join one though.

                              I'm a member of both.

You can purchase single event insurance for a namba event even if you are not already an IMPBA memember. It does not work the other way around though. I have know idea what the reasoning is either way.

Darin, a complete overhaul? Really? Your right about one thing. You'll never get support for a do over. How do you know when your done? When attendance reaches "X" at the NATS? When people stop saying things like "the rules need a complete overhaul"? Not gonna happen.

In NAMBA, Waters does check in with a list of FE guys that he trusts when FE issues crop up. And not just guys that will tell him what he wants to hear either. I respect him for that.

My only beef with IMPBA is that the FE chairman doesn't run FE boats. Just doesn't make much sense to me. It would be like me being the nitro chairman.

I have another question along the same lines. Maybe another poll. How many of you don't race because you think the rules are unfair, broken, complicated? My point being that the rules some say need to be flushed and replaced aren't the thing keeping guys from racing. It's not the rules.
