    Of course the NAMBA SAW record for P-OPC, being somewhat within reach, might be an interesting challange , [and informed sources tell me that November is rapidly approaching] { Hmmm...where did I put those lead wheel weights?}

        It's looking like I may be coming down there for that as well... Brian needs a pit guy!

        If I do... I'll be bringing my tunnels as well... Have a nice LOSI 1/8th scale motor setup that I think would light things up, and a tunnel that I think can handle it!

          first run with outrunner

          Here's the first run; everything the same as with the UL-1 motor; prop : Grimracer 42/55 detounged and mildly cupped. Wanted to see difference first with same prop. Maybe picked up 1-2 mph. Motor @ 115 deg., batt's & SC lukewarm. Plan was to prop up to a scalpel-sharp M445 cut down @ 1mm. Had to leave before
          2nd test, so no data on potential "unfair advantage". So far, no big diff, but bigger prop may tell the tale.

            Very nice!
            I love the scorpion motors. I have 1 in a heli and 2 in EDF jets. They are good quality motors and a reasonable price.

              Tony I was thinking about trying that motor in my Whiplash hydro. It will replace a 1515 1Y but I just don't think it will compare to my current 60mph setup.

              Couple questions,
              Are the mounting holes the same on the Scorp and the Neu 1515 series?
              Do you still use a Thrust bearing on the Scorp motor? I have a Large outrunner on one of my Heli's and I can basically pull the motor can right off, there is nothing holding the can on the motor besides the magnets. I see that the Scorp's have some sort of collar on the motor shaft to hold the can on though.

                Ray, my Scorp's mounted up, but it bolted right on the REK adaptor. The UL-1 motor has the same bolt pattern as the Faigaos, and my Faigao bolts up the same way my 1515 1Y does. The outboard drive uses a square driveshaft/collett interface with no pressure on the motor collett. A thrust washer wouldn't hurt on the usual drive setup. The can won't pull off. The 3026 won't compare to the 1515 unless you want to run LSSH spec class if your club allows it.

                    Your motor should have come with a collar also. That is standard issue. If you didn't get one, it must be a cheapo company making your motor. The point is, the can is held on with a very small clip. If the clip fails, the motor can come apart, thus the 'safety collar'. This only applies if you are mounting the motor one way. If mounting the other way, the collar isn't needed. Look at your motor and how it is put together. You will see what I mean.

                      Yep I know what you mean but no collor or safety clip came with the motor. In all honesty in the heli it could never come apart because of the pinion gear BUT if I was going to try one in a boat that would be a different story.
