(I would have added a dancing pickle if it were an option).
Shane, I was asking the length of the pickle (just hull - pickle tip to pickle transom), is it 31" like Todds? or other?
Thanks."Look good doin' it"

Guy I bought it from said 26". I will have to remeasure, if i can remember to. I would guess it's that 31". It's seems kinda big. But i have no frame of reference for boats. The yota crawler in back ground is 12" wb.TEAM Crawler Innovations, TEAM Holmes Hobbies, TEAM BC Paints!, TEAM OTTSIX , TEAM Y-Town CrawlersComment

Battery Choice
It's 26" tip to transom.
I bought some Kershaw Designs 7.4v 5000mah 25C-45C packs.
$49 a pack and they are in the U.S., physically anyways. I'll give them a try.

Ran this boat today on 22.2v and it was smokin' fast.
I might have stick to the 14.8v lipos I ordered. I had a couple 11.1v 1500mah lipo crawler packs left over today after a comp and threw them in the boat. WOW. I puffed my two 11.1v's and then puffed a set of my buddies 11.1v lipos. I think they are 35-45c.
Oh well, lessons learned. It was worth the 2 minutes of glorious runtime!!!!Last edited by Shane_744; 10-04-2009, 12:03 AM.TEAM Crawler Innovations, TEAM Holmes Hobbies, TEAM BC Paints!, TEAM OTTSIX , TEAM Y-Town CrawlersComment

Video
Went to lake right quick in between the rain. Slight chop with the wind about 1-2mph. I am just crusin' around at about 50% throttle and hit 90-100% throttle every now and then. This was the first time for me to run the boat more than 30 seconds.
I added a taller UL-1 turn fin and it really helps keep the boat down on the water. The first turn fin was way too aggressive for me right now.
It's running on two 2c 7.4v lipos in series. This thing can be a handful above 75% throttle on that slight chop. The front end doesn't raise up (probably more weight from two lipos) as much anymore but still handles great.
I need get a few Sunday early morning runs on the glass with it.
I ran it for about three minutes and probably could get another 1-2 mins out of the packs but 10 seconds after my wife turned the camera off I flipped the thing doing about 10 mph!. Had to swim a bit for the damn thng.
It's drying out now.

Hey, a guy from our club on here named rex r set his up for spec lsh and at the last race he had an awsome heat and won by stealing the start. His is set up very well for racing now after some tunning. You could ask him, he would share.

Love it Shane!!! looks really good and FAST too.
Try something next runs, hold full throttle through the turn (maybe the one closest to you), I bet you a beer that on a flat lake you can make a good hard (right) turn under full throttle. Maybe make more sweeping turns? Just my thoughts, looks good and can't wait to get me one."Look good doin' it"

It turns/rides pretty good even on that slight chop. I was really surprised at the full throttle runs it slaps back and forth on the sponsons a bit but stays in the water. I may adjust the turn fin a bit. Tilt the back up if i can. And play with the strut angle?
You mean by sweeping, just longer, smoother turns? I will try that this weekend on some early morning runs when the water is flat. I was just kinda getting used to the boat. I just liked cutting some hard turns to see what it would do. It's amazing how fast it will whip around and then take off full throttle.
It is alot of fun. It will definitly break up long days at the r/c crawling competitions I go to that are close to the water.TEAM Crawler Innovations, TEAM Holmes Hobbies, TEAM BC Paints!, TEAM OTTSIX , TEAM Y-Town CrawlersComment

Got a couple of runs under my belt now. I am really liking the UL-1 turn fin.
I am finding that little adjustments on the strut depth can make all the difference. I ran a few passes and thought the boat was too squirrelly but was fast. No GPS. I then raised the strut depth and ran it again, boat was more stable but considerabily slower (38mph). I taped the GPS on it for that run.
Lowered the strut back down past the first adjustment and kept going about 1.8". Got on plane and the boat died. So off a swimming I went. It was 50 degrees outside and the water was flipping cold. Finally figured out the receiver pack switch crapped out. Got it back to the house and was looking to run it this morning but when tightening up the prop shaft coupler the nut split! PLEASE, don't go swimming for a dead boat!!!!! That is not a good idea at all! The cold weather and cold water make it even a worse idea.
You can make a "ball" retreaver by using a tennis ball and a fishing real.
