That boat never wins because it's the fastest. It's just because it's like driving a Buick Electra 225. This may be the last season for the old barnacle barge. I have a replacement for it already. 1/4 the weight and faster. muhahaha Heading to Flint in the morning to take a run at the N2 sport record. I think there are 5 guys in the club that are really close in LSH. Don't we throw out the our 2 most pathetic showings? I can't remember.

          haha

Have any of you ever raced with Ken Haines? I think that guy deserves a "most dedicated" award. I aged two years just watching him go.

I'm not sure if he'll get a chance to read it but I'd like to thank Fred Siewert most of all. Fred and I go way back. Our families go way back. 27 years I think now. That's the hardest working man in FE. At least for the NATS he was. Fred was everywhere. He called at least 95% of the heats, raced some classes, banners, retrieval, scoring, helped me with the course when it needed it. He even talked me down from a tree at one point.

          Anyways, thanks Fred.

Terry, Do you remember when the lights went out and there was Ken Haines on the ground, on his knees with a flashlight still working on a boat or two. He was always working. If he wasn't working , he was running a boat. Can't remember him stopping for anything. The funniest time was when we were sitting around the campfire trying to keep warm and ken says "Oh look a New One" pause " Oh look another New One"

I was hugging my pillow and I could still hear Ken out there poking around. I wish I had stayed up long enough to see Mike Martin wielding his welder. Maniacs. Thanks for the Lasagna guys.....oh and the sirloin. At least they were eating. Easy to forget when your in the zone.

Camping for a race rules. You just can't run a dremel at 1:00 am in a hotel. Scares the crap out of the neighbors.

                      Nats Thank You

                      Hi Terry,
I should have posted this sooner, but it's just recently that we have felt fully recovered from that long week and even longer trip back to Florida.
On behalf of Mike Martin, the Wave Blasters of Florida and myself, I would like to thank you, Fred, Chuck, Jay, Joe, Ken, Norm, and the rest of your MMEU club for doing such a great job hosting this year's FE Nationals. I'm sure none of us can really appreciate all the upfront and behind the scenes work that it took to run this event. I would also like to thank you guys for the hospitality and camaraderie your club showed us and all the other of town guests.
I would also like to thank Steve Vacarro and all the other sponsors, without them it would be very hard to put on this type of event.
We had a great time racing and meeting a whole bunch of fellow racers for the very first time. Congratulations to all the winners, hope to be racing against all of you at next years Nats.
The only sour note for the weekend was sinking my terrific little Buass Spec Rigger at the end of the backstretch. I'm going to increase the reward for successful dive and recovery to $500, hopefully someone is able to recover this boat before the cold weather sets in.
                      Thanks Again, Ken

                          My Secrets

                          Hey Alan,
You already spied the numbers on that special prop I lent to Terry, what other secrets could I possibly have.
Yep, There are a couple more. So start diving !!
I would be glad if anyone rescued it, they can even study it for a few days.
It was pretty too, Fred said that was worth extra heat points.
Someone please resue it. $500 Reward
                          Thanks, Ken

I'll let you and others mess with that prop. I'm sticking with a more conventional method. I'm sure the fish have already made that hull a nice little shanty by now and they decorated it with my 1/8th scale prop!
