I have the same concern ; I'm hoping to better my LSO record at the Nov. SAW's. Probably need to grab an RC Hydros 10-32 before they're all gone too ! Anything new on the 700 motor horizon ? LSO & LSH are still max fun categories or am I living in the past ? :)

Personally I think it time for the Lsh/lso rules to change but this is my opinion.
with the cost of batteries and the power of brushless. I think that Lsh should move to a spec brushless motor on 6 cells. I recently tested an H&M viper that was built by Paul P. , this boat was set up with 2 11.1 volt lipos in parrallel gps'd at well over 50mph with an 8L y536 prop. I removed the lipos and installed a single 6 cell 4200 nimh pack with no other changes it gps'd at just over 37mph.

when people show interest in boats at my lake, and ask questions they freak out at the cost of batteries ($35-&65,nimh) to run LSH boats. At the high end of batts it takes $500+ in batts 12 cell just to run 3 heats and a main with todays lsh set up. you can do that with just $250 in batts (6cell) the extra savings would pay for the cost of the more expensive BL speed controllers. I know this would fall in N-class rules, but since most people SEEM to jump in to LSH/LSO first (I did) this would seem like a better option, to do an LSH CLASS with, IMO.

there has been discussion about using the 'sv' power system for lsh. the sv's motor is has a rated output close to a 700(ok so its about 150w more) and costs about the same as the 700/rc-hydros esc.
Still waiting for my boat to come in.it came in

              re :

Thanks for the input. Was kinda worried about the fate of the brushed 700 category. I do favor the idea of the SV power system for LSO/LSH ; would level the field and it's a super value. And yup, I'm still saving up for lipos. And trying to digest the differing opinions as to what to buy [ P-mono setup]. Series or parallel, "sport" packs or "race" packs; mah ratings and such. I imagine that many of us are weighing all the info before making an informed decision, especially considering the cost involved.

In all reality it will make for a cheating environment. These motors are not marked and can easily be switched to different windings.

Then why not just leave LSH alone and just run in the N-2 class if thats the set up you prefer.

aren't the graupner and the sc different winds? cause Doozie has some can legal 700s that are pretty hot and you can order them directly form the factory that way.

the 8.4v turbo (I've heard) is a somewhat hotter wind than the sc. I do know that my sc ran cooler than the turbo in my campbell shovel with the same setup(running a 'bigger' prop now and it still runs cooler).

Sorry the a09 and ao10 drill motors doozie refers to are NOT LEGALALY RECOGNIZED NAMBA LSH OR LSO MOTORS!!! They are in p sport . CHECK YOUR RULE BOOK THEY ARE NOT LISTED These same motors sell from time to time on eBay as Viper 720/12-66mm or 720/14 -66mm they are 18volt drill mabuchi motor used by several tool companies!!!!

I believe i said that the set up I said, would fall under N class rules. but I didnt say that LSH cant grow or evolve. Like i said this is my opinion, you dont have to accept it or like it. you can have a spec hydro/mono class on 6 cells with brushless, and you can still have the normal 12 cell 700 class. for people on a low budget a SPEC 6 cell class could be an easy way to get into racing.

You already have the class you are describing it is CALLED N-2 SPORT HYDRO/MONO!!! The newbies or anyone else can buiild and run to those guide lines, why change LSH/LSO when you have the class set up already as N-2 ?Perhaps you should read the current NAMBA and IMPBA rules the classes are already in place!
