Jay isopropil alcohol works great and also di-electric spray cleaner , I have soaked a 40/160 also and its still working great . used alcohol on that one . flipped my stealth in knee high water at about 60mph blowing the hatch off . ran out to the boat so fast that my shorts fell off.............

There is some very useful info in this thread on how to recover (possibly) a wet esc.
I to have seen a esc with burn tracks over the fets. That one is rooted.
I have dried a few and they have survived to see another day.

We all get to crash and lose something soon enough, I lost a gps yesterday.
This is what happens when we push things.
We will try to keep a hull dry and then a catastrophic structural failiure or a hatch
blown open/off will cause the damage that we spent so long avoiding.

I sympathise wth Kevins loss and know how it goes. I did a similar thing yesterday but not at 80mph, just 40-50 ?
          See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

Kevin, Jay is right. alcohol does the trick.
Even when your esc is dead, still wash it out .
In that way you'll be sure there's isn't any water in it during shipment to Europe.

You can send the esc to Schulze with your adress included in the parcel.
            (and your mail adres)
They fix the esc, then they will send you a pro-forma-bill.( pdf.file)
After they receive the money they send it back to you.

If still in guarantee, you may be lucky and repair for free? Or a small fee at least.

With the money some of you have in these systems...why not use hatch pins and tape?

Right! As a small extra measure I added velctro along the edges and tape and is better than tape itself. I could not figure out another way to add pins-bolts-locks and to make it also watertight. Any ideas?

Here's a few methods simple techniques I use to keep hatches in place: On the bottom [Titan 29], rivets epoxied to hatch fit into holes in hull ; Middle and top [DF 33 & Vegas] - garage door opener belt-clips slide under deck.
The middle hatch stayed on in a high-fifties flip- the force sucked a big patch of gelcoat off [ see the repaired dark spot] but the hatch stayed in place.
Other than that, plenty of tape !

Jeff I use hatch pins and tape now , I hit a buoy on the Snipers maiden run and caught about 25 feet of air landing backwards . not a drop of water got in because of that mishap and everything held tight

And there is this new stuff out called floatation. It's very inexpensive and comes in various shapes and sizes. It's also a good idea to glue it in place so that if the hull comes apart, hopefully, the floatation will stay with the $$$$$$$$, not simply mark the place where the boat went down.
Sorry to hear abot your loss.
