Thanks Doug. I wish I would have known about the 4 hole Fullerton prior. I think I'm committed now, unfortunately.

Cool Rex. The 3 hole bracket will stay in mine as well. I filled the original two hole bracket holes with epoxy and re-threaded them. They seem to be holding quite well. I just wish I would have known about that 4 hole bracket. I'm a "belt AND suspenders" type of guy.

I'll be darned. That ESC packaged right in there perfectly. See attached.

The only thing I don't like is that bulkhead fitting in the rear. There is no barb. If that gets loose she'll fill up quick. It' the only bulkhead I could find at the local hobby store. Does anyone (Aeromarine? Dumas?) make a metal bulkhead with a barb on both ends?

Again, thanks for all your help guys.

BTW - My CG (with the relocated ESC and steel weight in the front) is now at about 1-1/4" from the back of the sponsons.

For all you racers that run a pickle in 1 mile heats, I was wondering home much mAh do you burn up in a heat (including mill)? Give my your set up and what you burn. Thanks!

Big Papa - Have you ran that thing yet??? It looks great!!

Mine was a rocket at first, but I had to add some weight to the front to keep her down. The hull traps a lot of air underneath it. It seems to "float" above the surface like a kite almost. Anybody else experiencing this?? I saw some of the same characteristics in Doug's video I think.

Randy added a few inches to the length and width of his Zephyr hull. I might end up building one of those next year. It seems like it would handle rougher water better. Anyone have one?

mine runs SV ESC/motor and keeps up with the UL-1 powered boats in our club. space is limited for battery adjustment, so I run with an airdam and I add weight up front in windy/rough conditions. Usually runs fast and stable...
I've seen bigpapa's run when it was still in Wa. State. It tended to spin as it was setup. Not sure if it was rudder throw/length or turn fin...? Mine does every once in awhile, but usually only in bad water.

Big Papa - Can't wait to hear how that thing runs!! Let us know.

Doug - Are you talking about my strut and fin (or..Papa's??) If so, here's a pic of the strut. I'll get a pic of the fin later. You might laugh at it.

Ctonez - Thanks for the info! Mine is at par with the UL-1 as well. They are in the same range on the GPS. What prop are you running with the SV setup?? Do you have any photos of that air dam? That would be great!

Your're right, there's not much adjustment for the batts. I wish I could put them further up. I've added a ton of weight (6oz to be exact) to the front. Take a look at the big pc of steel velcro'd in front of the batts. It handles well with the weight and runs 45+mph, but I'd rather find another solution. Perhaps that air dam will help me. I'll try putting some foam up there temporarly to see how it handles. I might also try venting the sponsons.

                          I'm running a m545. probably mid to upper 40's for speed. I'll say this much;
Last time I raced against Brian we were deck to deck for a lap in 2 heats and I checked up due to a flipped boat but stayed the same distance from him for 6 laps. Brian runs a UL-1 and his own hull (I think). I think we were both surprised at the 'pickle's speed and stability.

A strut adjustment did more to stop my blowover issues than the airdam, and I don't think the airdam is right yet. I'll know more next weekend.
Last race weekend I hit a beer bottle in the first heat, rode up a roostertail in the second and won the third, so I didn't learn much...except that the boat is fast!
I'll try to get some pics up.

A beer bottle???? Geeeeez! But it survived, didn't it?? I can't believe the durability of these things. So far mine has survived a dock impact, random pc of floating wood, a full set of allen wrenches dropped onto the sponson, and unbelievably....a FISH!!! You'd think I was out to destroy this thing or something?

I agree with the stability of these on smooth water. It's the slightly rougher stuff that mine has trouble with. The axial ledges on the sponsons ride all the way down the hull making it track a straight line beautifully as well.

I was talking to a full size racer the other day and he mentioned this "venting" idea. It's for boats that tend to trap too much air underneath. Attached is a photo. It's really interesting and is supposed to stop the side to side "dance". My UL-1 definitely had the dance. This boat not as much, but it starts up in the rougher water.

i have been told by many that the pickle catches air easy in the nose, you need to add weight to the nose....... of the boat stick on wheel weight may be a choice........ avaliable at any auto part store cheap.......

                                Corey, Nice work!

Shooter, with that strut adjustment (and the weight in the nose) your boat should be running like a submarine. I think you'll find the problem mounted to the right sponson transom.
Guys we have been racing these boats for just over three years now and have never seen the need to put weight in the nose. Where does this put your CG???
I have my hulls marked EXACTLY where the cells go so that I don't put them in too far forward. It causes handling issues, trouble getting up, stuffing, spinouts ect.

To tune our boats for poor race conditions we add weight(approx 7+- oz) right on the CG. I have used a airdam (and weight) one time when we had to race in 25 mph wind, and there were rollers on the pond. Did real good that weekend BTW.
