      4. Maybe I would notice something else wrong.

Lets see, you say your motor magnet is cracked. Seems to me either poor motor quality or serious vibrations of flex coupler or shaft is the problem. So the magnet flies apart and jams into copper windings of your Feigao motor. That magnet's rotating momentum is transferred to motor case and motor mount. The mount breaks off. At the same time your motor's windings are short circuited. Your ESC does not know that yet and energies next phase, which is a short circuit. The current going through the power transistors in your ESC quickly rises several times past their maximum current rating and they simply pop. Next there are few more steps to total fiery hatch blowing catastrophic failure. At the end you end up with smoke and dead boat.

This is another example of how trying to save money buying cheap low quality motor ends up costing you more, and you end up buying Neu motor later anyway.
I'll post pic asap. I have a Feigao 9XL in another cat. It runs fine no problems. The 580 was recommended.... This boat was setup as sports run, not racing, or trying to go for GPS. So i thought 580L would be good for it. Not trying to save money. Guess i'll be getting a Neu 1521 motor soon.

I feel for you, as you have had a bad experience with at times a dubious supplier. State your goals, available cash and many will chime in.

Where can i get a stronger motor mount for this hull? OSE doesn't have any that would work.

I have that old mount like yours in my cat. Did your JB weld let loose? Anyways, this one appears to be nice. I have it in my DF26 knockoff... http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=etti-h010

If you are getting 1521, try to find one with 5mm shaft and use Octura 5mm to 3/16" hex coupler (you do use 3/16 shaft, right?). I found Octura's 8mm couplers vibrate more and are larger, thus making that problem worse. Don't bother with aluminum grub screw type couplers. If you can get Lehner aluminum hex coupler, those are the best.

EDIT: I may be wrong that Octura 5mm to .187 coupler is smaller and lighter than 8mm to .187
Call the vendor and have them check that before buying 5mm motor. If those couplers are same weight, then 5mm motor shaft is disadvantage because 8mm shaft is stiffer and should handle coupler vibrations better.

Yes. The grey JB weld let loose.

Now, I am really not understanding the problem. Did you cement the motor mount and what preperation?

So the actually motor mount isn't the problem? Try some 2 ton epoxy.

Tony you need a motor mount with a large footprint for that size motor. It wouldn't hurt to get one that will support the endbell.
Look at the mount for the Vac-U-Pickle to get an idea.

Sorry you had the failures bud.

                                Doug,
Good to hear from you too. That motor mount would probably be the one.
BTW, how was the race on the 16th?
