Temps after 2 minute run motor 110 - esc 114 - batteries 1 at 128 & 1 at 145(and slightly puffed)...

The x440 is a mild prop for that setup as long as the boat was running freely; if running wet then you could expect some heat. But your motor and ESC were fine for a summer run, so I suspect problems with the packs. Typically if the packs are significantly hotter than the motor/ESC then they have been over-discharged, or discharged close to their lower voltage limit. What was the voltage of each pack after the run? Were they both fully charged brfore the run, or was one a bit off full?

A total of 3700 mAh capacity with a 20C rating means a max continuous discharge rate of just 74 amps, with 55 amps a safer limit. The x440 would probably be near that if the boat ran freely. If you have higher capacity/C rated packs I'd use them next time.

Thanks Jay, I do have some Hyperion G3 5500 35c's that I intend to use now that I know it won't go up in smoke first time out!

Now I need to re-read all those MM threads you & Reddy posted so I can fine tune the hardware and get it to bite sooner!
