    Mean machine 1st run #'s

OK here's my setup - Mean Machine heavier hull, 9xls, Etti 150, Octura x440 and 2 2S Lipo. (hooked red to red ,black to black and red to black I can never rember if this is series or parallel). I think it has something to do with the drugs from the 60's

    Temps after 2 minute run motor 110 - esc 114 - batteries 1 at 128 & 1 at 145(and slightly puffed)

Any guesses why the difference in battery temps or is that ok? These two packs were always run together and charged together.

It took about 15 feet to get up plane & stop cavitating --- I think its needs a little fine tuning but quite happy for 1st run. She runs really well and turns like on rails - Not like my Toysport Jolly but damn it's pretty quick. She will be a fun boat to drive!

Is that 1 9xl or 2 (you typed 9xls)? I will guess and say 1 because of the way you wired the lipos. and just to make sure when you say red to red, black to black you are talking about the connection between the lipos and the spedo. and the red to black is the lipos. if this is the case then you have wired them in series for a 4s setup. and that would work with one 9xl. as for the temp on the lipos i would be concerned off the one at 145. sounds like the pack is weak. are these new or used packs and are they of good quality.

Congrats on a nice first run, although I must confess I am a bit concerned about an EODman who cant remember tween Series and Parallel!

I believe you had them in series, rather than parallel, which could mean one battery was slightly under the other in voltage, less volts more amps, and more heat.

At any rate, congrats on what sounds like a great build!

Wiring length on the batteries to the ESC are they the same? I presume one motor "9xls"?

Yes it's a single drive unlike my Jolly! They are Poly RC - bought early last summer from RC Lipo and maybe 20 cycles thru them! They are 20C 3700 mAh 2S1P 7.4 volt.

I would verify that both batteries were fully charged and balanced. In series wiring, current is the same thru-out the whole circuit.

Ok sounds good. those packs are not the biggest Mah you might have just ran them a little to long. when you go to charge them back up take note of the Mah you put back in them.

Thanks Guys, but just for clarification 99 percent of the ordinance I worked with back in the day was mechanical!

You are low in mAH for that motor and prop, but a 2 minute run should not have caused the heat difference?

I have some larger Lipos but for the 1st run I didn't want to lose my Hyperion G3's if I did something wrong!

Take a very good look at your wiring and soldering. Switch the battery positions next time and if the good battery suffers the same fate, change out all your wiring and connectors
