I know this question is odd but what motors do you like now? I wanna see opinions and why?

Leopard 4082 1600kv and 4092 1750kv. Pretty dependable and can take the abuse while I am still learning on how to tune them. -
TP Power. When when they introduced their line several years ago they were about the equivalent of a Leopard in efficiency and power, but in the past couple years they have upped their game and are now ahead of most hobby motors. Actually I have had better luck with TP than with Neu in the past two years; had two new Neus fail, one was brand new but had an internal short and took out two ESCs before I realized it was faulty. That was an EXPENSIVE motor!
TP has powered some of the fastest FE race boats in the past few years. Just as an example, Brian Buaas set the P Hydro SAW record near 140 mph and set the fastest heat race time for a P Sport Hydro (running my old Insane hull) with TPs. Of course there is a lot more to setting records than just a motor, but the above serve to demonstrate what can be done with the TP line.
IME Leopards run hotter than equivalent TPs, meaning less efficiency and less power. They are good budget motors and look really nice, but in this case you really do get what you pay for.

TP!!! I am on my fourth season on these motors. I am not running this one every Saturday but I push it
I do run it more than two passes at a time. I also run them in my Lazer 40 twin and one of my Pursuits.Comment

Tp power. It seems to be my go to motor on most everything but my highest end build and sometimes I'll still use them if there's a model suitable for what I'm doing. I personally haven't had a failure. My buddy has but he was turning like 60k rpm trying to kill it.
The kv choices and options are pretty vast. They are great people to deal with, I order from them all the time (ordered yesterday) and their shipping is fast. Steve also stocks a bunch of their stuff and his shipping is the fastest. Most motors come with a free water jacket (larger motors) and I like their low profile jackets, they are slick looking. I honestly can't think about one thing to complain about with these motors. The price is killer for what you get. I've got a little 36mm motor in a 27" cat going over 90mph and it's not breaking a sweat. I know it could go close to 100 if not top 100 but I really didn't want this boat going that fast anyway. Their motors are beastly. My buddy was turning 103mph with a single motor Genesis with a 4060 which in my opinion is pretty impressive. I didn't get that fast with mine with a 1521 neu.32" carbon rivercat single 4s 102mph, 27” mini Rivercat 92mph, kbb34 91mph, jessej micro cat(too fast) wasComment

As others have stated, TP is doing a great job with their motors. Quality is quite high and cost is extremely reasonable. They have a good selection in sizes and KV, include water jackets with most of their motors and ship quickly what they have in stock.
For higher end builds, LMT's and Neu 22 series are great.

What kind of jacket does TP ship with a 4050 motor? Is it a short little thing or is it almost full length?
I've been out of it for a year so I have no input, sorry. HET and Scorpion make very nice motors but, I have not had enough time on them to give them any rating.
I'm going to try my 4070 again after I shorten the leads, no worry, I'm a pro at it. It may not be dead yet.Nortavlag Bulc

Reason for asking I have had 2Tp motors that did not impress me. I have had a 1489kv leopard that was just OK. The best motors for me has been leopard 4082 1600kv and 4092 1730kv too seem to be very strong. What I gathered so far is certain kv's are stronger than others seems weird? I am going to test same motor in different hulls soon.Comment

You cannot judge a motor by Kv alone. Motor diameter, length and quality are major factors too. Comparing a 4092 motor and a 4076 with the same Kv will demonstrate the higher power of the 4092, assuming you are pulling plenty of amps.
What about the OP's TP motors did not impress? What does "strong" actually mean, and with what were they compared? What boat, voltage and prop? What size "1489" Kv Leopard motor was just "OK", and what was wrong with it?

I would like to try a TP motor, so I ordered a 5670, 1180kv for my Sniper from them Oct. 17. Still waitingComment

TP's followed by Leopard. I am fairly new to the hobby and have more leopard than anything. Got the TPs and those things seemed well built and looks good too. They sure do scream in my Zonda. I also have a neu 1521 but really can't comment on it yet since I haven't gotten a good run on it.Proboat Voracity-E 36" , Proboat Zelos 36 Twin , Proboat Miss Geico 29" , Traxxas Spartan, Fightercat Daytona, ZondaComment
