You are dead on! There is a Miss Bud turbine hydro out there.
Jetcat does a marine turbine, puts out 10 hp at 28 000 rpm according to the specs.
My dream boat a scale turbine hydro, at 5000$ for the turbine be a long dream!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

You would need a twin set up of what I mentioned above to hit those speeds at a cost of about 3000.00 usd. My 57" shovel nose at 30 lbs does a bit better than 70 mph on 10S2P with a 6717/3. Forget about a 2-1 gear box unless it is custom made for high rpm's.

I was contacted about a year ago by a guy who had a very large hydro like this. He was using Turbine power and wanted to switch to electric because the turbine didn't really have enough power to push the boat. I tried to talk him into twin props but he wasn't interested in compromising the scale looks, and he was convinced that one electric motor would propel this thing into the stratosphere. My advice was that he wasn't going to be happy with electric, and it wasn't the magic bullet he thought it would be. I'm not sure what ever became of it, but the moral of the story is that sometimes turbines aren't enough power either. If 14s 400A isn't enough power to get the speed he would like, there's no way a turbine is going to do it.

OP, I really think you should go with Andi's recommendation and get the Torqstar + MGM 400. MGM has a new 800A ESC as well but they're quite expensive and I'm not sure that the Torqstar is going to take that much power anyway.
14s 400A is serious power. There's a noticeable difference between 12s and 14s even. You will for sure want an anti-spark wire. 14s will actually melt holes in your bullets on plug in, not to mention it's pretty scary.f I personally think you will want at least 14s3p, if not 14s4p.

When you say the hull is 60lbs, is that the weight of the boat without lipos and electronics, or are you making an estimation on what it will be with those things? You will be of course adding a significant amount of weight to the boat. I think my 73" cat was around 18lbs bare hull, but it was 50lbs RTR.

Here's a couple vids of turbine powered boats...

More info on the engines can be found here... http://www.jetcatusa.com/

Forgive me for asking a question totally unrelated to electric powered plant. Are there any real turbine engines ( for models that is) that can and have powered boats this size? I don't mean this as a suggestion, but purely as a question as I recall seeing a video with a turbine powered hydro plane.

I brought that up just because I was curious, I also thought that the turbine may not be enough for a 90" boat, that other hydro is smaller and the speed can only be described as "scale". But the sound is so nice from the turbine.
The videos of the cats are great, but with twin and smaller hulls, that's the ticket.
14s4p, that is some serious expense. Lottery is the way to go. Nice link to the turbine.

Whatever the OP decides, good luck and I will be watching!
