Leopards are a little cheaper. But I can tell you I have a leopard 4092 and its really really powerful. Worth every dollar. I'm in the mid sixties with it on 6s -
To answer your question, both:-) I am using TP is my boats but I think it's mostly personal preference when choosing between the two. Both are of pretty decent quality and will get the job done. I would make sure she's plenty strong before you hit the water though. You've been around a little while so you know what is usually done before taking a lightly built boat like this hell bent accross the lake.
Looks like it could be a lot of fun, keep in mind it likely won't last to long without doing the work to make it strong enough for the flips and spills inevitable at higher speeds. I know I added more here than you asked for but better to mention it now than say "you should have" later. Don't forget lots of flotation!Comment

Temps are great on 6s the leopard 4092 is a monster. Here is how I have the cooling set up. Rudder with dual hoses. One hose goes in the motor bearing support and then into the motor cooling can, out of the motor and out the side of the boat. The other tube goes to a "Y" splitter and both of them go through a SeaKing 180 ESC both come out of ESC "Y" back together and go out the other side of the boat. I power this setup in the cheetah with four gens ace 3S 5000 lipos two in each side. Each pair is in series so that makes a 22.2v 5000 in each side then the two sides are run in parallel to make 10,000 mah 22.2v battery. Allot of power but that motor is capable of 4200watts to put that in perspective that totals up to over 5.5 HP. This is going through a 3/16 cable in a brass tube 1/4" and its spinning an X447/3 a three blade prop. This is a killer set up in a cheetah witch is around 34 1/2 by 14" wide. Its a CF hull with an extra layer of CF throughout. If you tap the trigger all the way the boat will launch out of the water a few feet in the air an do a complete flip and a half twist. Top speed on dead flat water is fast never GPS'd it but punched out I would say high sixties. It will run for about 6 minutes punched out. The crashes and flips are intense. So put some time in strengthening that hull.Comment

Its very reliable because most would consider my battery setup a bit on the heavy side. But the batteries are good for way more amps then I'm drawing. This is the key for a dependable system. You run into problems when you push the amps to the limit of the batteries. That's when thing burn and puff. Most hot setups don't run for very long time, three or four minutes on average. If you put to much battery in the boat you get long run times but the added weight will make the boat ride deeper in the water causing higher amps and decreased handling so it a balance. Cats don't seem to mind a little weight as much a "v" hulls like the one your looking to build. But I would say for your hull if you choose the same power maybe two 6400mah or bigger 3s or one 8400 6s would be a good balance. Its hard to say it takes time to tween a system to get near 70. The prop on my boat may not be the best for yours it depends. But I would think this setup would be good. Trimming it all in is key.Comment

Dude, do yourself a favour and spend some time reading what other members have done when upgrading similar rtr's. A 4092 is a good motor, not for your setup though. Your boat doesn't need a monster motor and 6s2p battery setup. If you spend some time reading now it will save you a lot of grief out on the water.Comment
