What do you use to cut flex cable?

I recently purchased single piece flex cables to replace the two piece flex cables in the Genesis, Smash Shark and Pursuit. I have to cut the cable down to size. Curious as to what tool to use to cut the flex cable. Would a regular hack saw do the job or is there a special tool to not damage the flex wires? Also are there any tips or tricks to cutting the cable?

I used a dremel with a rotary cutter. Make sure you get a good quality rotary cutter made from quality high speed steel. If not it won't do the job properly and safely.

Ditto. Dremel cutting disk and lot's of sparks and you are done...

Like the other suggested a dremel tool with the following attachment does a nice job.

After you cut the cable soak and scrub the end with acetone and flow some solder at the cut end to keep it from unraveling

LOL C4! I use a dremel then hit the cut tip with my mig welder, quick spin on the bench grinder and good to go.
A torch and silver solder works fine on the tip, but my welder is just so much quicker and more handy. Tip done in about 2 seconds and don't have to worry about changing the temper of the cable where it matters.

I almost spit coffee all over my keyboard...If you don't have a dremel, its time to buy one or something similar. Safety Glasses ! like already suggested clean it good, acetone is what I use, then you can melt some solder in a shell casing or crucible, dip tip in flux, dip in solder, wipe with rag, repeat. once done just use some sandpaper or light grinding to clean it up...DJ

I like to use a beaver..........then clean it up with a dremel.

Thanks everyone for the tip! Really appreciate it. I had tried previous to cut one with a pair of wire cutters, that of course didn't turn out too well as you can imagine. Gonna do it right this time around. :)

That mig welder tip is killer I'm gonna have to steal that one!

Ha ha, I nearly lost my coffee all over my new smartphone when I read that too, because I was in mid drink when I saw that, Damn that's funny ....

I use a 4.5" angle grinder with a hot saw cutting disk on it, they slice through metal like a hot knife through butter
