Wow this has really turned out to be an exercise in frustration. It has been a month and a half now since I was told three more weeks.I decided it was time to follow up. The motor that was sent to china for the "special glue" had the rotor replaced(after I was told there is nothing wrong with it) and apparently it still stuck out the back of the can too far and they cant explain why So now they say I am getting a new motor and it will be a further two weeks. While the thought of a new motor should satisfy, at this point i am not feeling very confident.

I've beat the crap out of my TP motors and they haven't let me down yet. There is good and bad everywhere. I'm sorry you have had troubles with TP Power customer service, that is not good.

I'm selling my 1440kv 4070 because I thought I hurt the 1250kv one but, it's fine. It was for back up but, now I can trust the other one because I found out where my problems really came from.

I'll give Junlin an email and see what gives, they are pretty good to me, in fact, they have gone over the top a few times for me.

Just saying: I think their motor cans ( 40xx) are not 100% made within spec. However rarely that may be. This brings back my comment earlier that my 40xx can's mounting holes were not machined correctly, they were a hair wider than 25mm and, more interestingly, the holes were shallow, meaning that you can only use a 6mm M3 bolt or you will poke at the windings in the stator, I have quite a few 36xx motors and they accept much longer M3 bolts before you will run that risk.
Is it possible that this is one of those cases where as the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing? i.e., the repair dept. haven't figured out that there is some irregularities with the motor can?
Just saying because i am curious as well... I have thus stayed away from their 40xx. The ones I have used are good motors ( 36xx).

I find it very odd that they design and build these motors but cant explain why the shaft sticks out the back nearly 1/4" more than it should. I mean how many things can cause that to happen with a brand new rotor.

I agree, makes no sense at all.
On the other hand, my Neu 1515 has been on the shop for repair since Sept. and they called TWO WEEKS ago and said I can pay so they will ship back, well, the finance dept. never send me the bill and e mails and phone calls have not been answered, I am still waiting for them to bill me, meanwhile I am still out of my Neu 1515.
Not comparing the quality of these two brands or services, but it is a pain in the neck to sit around and wait for your motor to come back.

Wow. Id be even more pissed if I had paid that kind of money and still had to deal with this sort of crap. I didnt think neu had those kinds of issues.

I find all my TP motors have a fair bit of shaft out the back. I don't mind as long as it stays the same, I'm good if the shaft were to slip, That is a BIG issue.

I don't think TP likes to do repairs as much as replacements under warranty but, they should and it should not be like you have described.

If you can get away with a 36xx motor, like some Leopards, they are a bit more efficient than 40xx motors.

Ya the whole thing has been ridiculous. I sent clear pictures showing the issue and they told me to send it in. So they obviously saw something was wrong. Then told me nothing was wrong, then told me they replaced the rotor and it was still like that.I,m just glad its not right in the middle of the season or i,d be really steaming.

Well my new motor is finally on the way. I had to choose a different wind because they have changed their line up but that wasnt a big deal. Im just happy its finally coming and i,m really hoping to never have to go through this again

On the other hand, it took just THAT long to get my Neu 1515 back.
I would have bought a new one had I been in the middle of a build, the waiting game is not fun but I kept telling myself it is a Neu and at least it is made in the USA.
Chinese products are some what expandable items, good that they try to replace but it's not worth to get all upset, of course that 's my opinion...

Good point you have made. It didn't take long for me to get my motor back from neu, like 2 weeks.... but the problem wasn't fixed. I'm about to contact them about that shortly.

Actually it was three months. They had it for a month before I first posted. If it was during our boating season I would have been really pissed off. We only have a limited amount of time to run and had it happened at the start of the season it would have meant a brand new boat on the shelf for the entire yr. Luckily that was not the case. From what Junlin told me in the email they will no longer be sending motors to the plant in china for repairs. They will take care of their customers in house so in the future the turn around should be much quicker. They change the design of the can again as well. Hopefully for the better!
