Yes, in physical size. In performance not so much, the 4060 is probably closer to the 1521. Expect higher temps and slightly lower speeds with the TP....but if not reaching for the ultimate performance and efficiency levels then the TPs seem to be decent motors based on the two I tested. IME the TPs are better than comparable Leopards, but others have seen the opposite. But if I can't justify a Neu then I buy HET.

4050=1521, 4060=1527, 4070=1530 these equivelents are by physical size.
Thanks FLRAPTOR, Now if you where to put a 4060 up against a 1527 would it stay close in MPH or is there really no comparison? I know the Neu's are a far superior motor and would last a lot longer, i'm just trying to get a general idea.

Jay, you are 100% correct. I've tested exact same kv 4060 vs neu 1521 and the 1521 with same batteries, prop, boat etc was a couple mph faster. And run a little cooler (about 10 degrees). To clarify that was a 1521 neu 1860kv d wind vs tp 4060 1870kv d wind.

1527 will trounce a 4060. The 4070 might be a closer comparison.

I think I'm going to start with a TP and get some data on it off my ESC. Then make a detirmination of what NEU or Lehner motor I'll buy.
My Revolt right now, then I'm looking at a DF Mk II Mono
A 4050 would do well (1518 is probably comparable) but if you want a little excess power go with a 4060 but that may not fit. I'm not sure how much room you have. If it were me and I was going to go with a tp (all the motors I have are neu or castle tho) I'd put a 4050 in it and turn up the rpm with a 42mm prop. That's just me tho. There's a few different ways to arrive at the same thing. I prefer high rpm with a small prop....the boat will usually handle better with a smaller prop.

External size yes but, not same length of stack or core.
Actually the 4070 has the outer dimensions of a 1527 not a 1530... The 4070 is slightly lighter than a 1527, that says a fair bit. I love my 4070 that I have in my Whip 40 on 6S2P for racing.

Nope, I've had the 4070 and a 1530 side by side and actual measurement is 4070 107mm and 1530 107.95 the 100mm in the ad for the TP 4070 isn't right.
