    Motor Mount

I am looking for a motor mount for a Neu 2230 1y. Anyone know where I can get one?

Try this guy. He's got skills and equipment.

Worse case scenario I'll make you one like my 2215 mount in the Carretero. Less than a minute to yank the motor and mount out together. The 2230 is just longer.

What are you putting that pig into?

My 1/8 scale buddy. No call, no write? I see how it is. Just don't like the fat kid anymore.

Dude, a 2230 in an 1/8th scale? Why?

He ran it one time on the 1530 and is bailing. IDK either. My 2217 didn't do a thing for me.

After speaking with Mike Pags, Tyler G and Brian B, it seems that the weight of my boat is too much for the 15 series.

That's like saying a 6 cylinder pinto motor wouldn't push it so I went to an Allison with a turbo and nos.

That said, I'll be building a lighter scale for myself this winter. It's already framed.

I am debating about that myself. Might build the Eagle Lobster with my 1530.

I call bull on the weight. Anyone who says your scale is too heavy is full of it. That boat of yours might weight 17-18lbs, and that is only due to the lead up front. Your problem is you are trying to run 70mph, and its not needed. Slow down to 60-63mph or so, and learn to drive it. Showning up and racing it one time, probably in lane 5-10 and you will never have a chance to win, even doing 70mph. A 2230 is a motor made for a 55" mono weight 20lbs, not a 44" scale hydro. If Don F. can make an 1/8th scale, that weights 16lbs, run 100.xx mph in SAW form, on a 1527 Neu, then I see absolutely a 1530 can run your 18lb hull in heat trim at 65mph. I dunno, I give up, I have never heard such talk in my life! The boat ran fine before I repainted it, and I stripped it down to primer, with a 1527 before the repaint, I don't see how a 1530 isn't enough now!!! Namba needs to change their rules from allowing these large motors in scale...its going to kill the class.

Oh, and a Winston Lobster has a dramatically long after plane...You will add 2-3lbs of lead balancing that hull...I did!

You know what Terry and Mike? I quit racing. I tried the 1530 like Don, and killed it. I tried a 1527 1.5y with the exact same setup as the guys in Washington. Boat barely did 55. So, you are both right. I quit this sport.

Todd, seriously? We are both trying to help you understand a 2230 is wayyyy over the top! Its just not needed. For one, you are going to need WAY more mah ability than 6500mah on 8s. That motor requires like 10000 to 12000mah to not draw down your packs. Probably even a Schulze 40.160 controller. There is just way more to this than just switching motors. I am honestly unsure you can even fit that motor without major changes, including modifying the hatch. Have you ever seen a 2230 in person? This is not trying to rag on you, or get on your back. I am just trying to help you save time, money, and possible damage to your boat. Sorry for intervening.

                          Todd,

It's not that the weight is too much or the motor is insufficient. The biggest problem was your controller. The HV ICE's are not nearly as reliable as the 240's and you wanted to run 10S.

The boat will run fine with the 1530, but it failed right? Unsoldered a phase connection between the magnet wire and silicone lead? Send that back to Neu for repair. You can of course run a 2230 and have plenty of power to spare. Do you need it....No, but it's always fun to scare Terry.

I have the drawings for the 22XX mounts. Peter Z and I designed these for Terry I believe years ago.
