Besides being finned lol
I am extremely happy with the finned CC motor. I am skeptical with their new smooth can 1515 motor tho, too cheap to be good. No one has tried it yet, it seems. Curious as to its performance.

They're not the same motor, just the same number. A neu 1515 is closer to a Castle 1512 in size.

I am not sure if this is addressed to me, sorry, I was saying the new version of CC's 1515 motor as compared to the familiar finned version. Should have made my point more clear.
As for the NEU 1515, I have them in my MeanMachine and Popeye Hydro, love them.

I was Just told by someone who runs both that the neu motifs are alot smoother than the castle motors.

I had a nue in my mm, then got a castle. Both 1515.
I feel like the castle does a bit better, being a bit larger. The boat runs 5s2p, so yeah, it's a sled.

Smoother? That's a strange statement. Smoothness of acceleration? That's depicted by the esc, and Maaaaybe wind type of the motor.

I'm guessing vibration. I know that on one of my castle motors, It had a slight vibration to it. I was trying to find the root cause of vibration in on of my boats. Turned out to be mainly the collet, but the motor wasn't perfectly smooth either. So that woukd be my guess.

OK Neu and castle are the same design, Castle purchased the designs from Neu and have them manufactured in China, Neu's are made in the USA. There may be No difference in design but quality of workmanship and raw materials may not be the same (may not be!!!! but could be identical). I have Neu motors that are 6-7 years old with hundreds of runs on them...

Very little. But I could feel it.

                        Take Castle's word on it.

They might be the same design internally (personally prefer the castle type case with wires coming out of a rubber grommet) but maybe made in mass quantities and outsourced to China where Maybe the neu version is made with a little more attention to detail....that's basically what im gathering......

I suppose if the Castle versions "worked just as well" we'd see more of them in the record books.

It depends on what your needs are. You can buy your tools at Sears, or Harbor Freight.

The castle versions work just as well in every application where I have ran both the Neu and castle/ Neu motors.
It's your choice. Pay double if you want, but don't expect noticeable performance gains, or longevity.
