What motor is the closest to an NEU Castle 1520 1600kv?

I can read tables & charts all day trying to match up spec's, but I want to know what performs in the water like an NEU 1520 1600kv. I've been unable to locate even a used one. So what is currently available...or what are there more of on the market that I might find as close as I can get to this in NEU Castle motor? I want to stick with 180 amp ESC & two 3s Lipo's in series so I don't want to stray too far from the 1600kv rating. And I'm a total newb to brushless & marine RC. I cut my teeth on nitro planes back in the 90's & man, has technology changed!

    Thanks,
    Michael P.

    Neu 1521/1y
    Neu 1524/1.5d
    Neu 1527/1.5d

All right in there for kv.

You should probably mention what you want to do with it. Someone here might have a cheaper alternative.

Specifically, I've picked up a Spartan hull that I only want to use for bashing. Just want it to go fast at local ponds/lakes. I know the Spartan is not the best hull for high speeds, but the faster you go the faster things break...laws of the universe. This is my first boat - its a toy. No serious racing going on here. I picked up two 4082 Leaopards, but I already know I won't be happy with the speed even on a good prop. I'll try to keep the electronics dry and cool, beef up the drivetrain and have fun until the hull fails (not from fire, hopefully).

4082 1600kv vs NEU Castle 1520 1600kv...given same hull, electronics & prop (not personal experience - only from what I have seen), seems like the NEU Castle would crush the Leopard. Is this not the case? I watch NEU Castle boats run with same setup as Leo 4082 boats & the Leopards seem so much slower from a stop & at top end. Then I see a RTR Spartan out of the box and I'm like: "Is that boat even moving? Can't tell." LOL

              Amen Randy.

If you're not racing there's no need for a Neu in my opinion. They're pricey for just tooling around. Some of my boats that have Neu's don't really need them because they don't get raced enough to justify the dough. So if you want one just cuz you want one we get it.

              Leopard should be plenty though.

No words more true about making anything go faster. I built a $60k street-driven, 600RWHP, twin-screw Mustang Cobra with full open-track suspension, for $45k, by shopping the classifieds...buying new parts for less than used prices from guys who started projects & couldn't finish, etc. Took me 3 years & it was a magazine car with the best of everything. I don't have the patience for that anymore, but you learn from projects like that about investing in quality products to save yourself the headache of maintenance down the road. You can also gather from this that I'm a big fan of overkill. So, yes - just want it for the over-the-topness.

In my opinion there is no reason to get anything other than a NEU. I blew up my first neu motor (a 1521/1,5D) in arizona at the winter warmups, when I took it out I realized the date on the can was may of 2007, thats almost 7 years and hundreds of 4 minute offshore runs, and sprint runs, 2 national championships (in 2 different boats) and at least another 1/2 dozen other trophies won by that motor and boat!!! In my opinion I got every penny's worth of my $250!!!! Oh and Neu is fixing it for less than 1/2 the price of a new one!!! Ive spent more than 5 times that in the past year on spec motors alone!!!!!

That's a little to much for a spartan I'd think lol
