Since a Sniper 45 is only 5" longer than my 40" DF copy, why would this motor be too much for it on 8 or 10S??

Peter, you mentioned this one time, maybe in this thread or another...?

Too much? Nah. The 2215 in my 40" DF mono was perfect.

You know what Ray , I am going to recant my statement maybe it isn't to big but I'll bet its dam close . I have a 1527 DF35 and a DF44.5 with a 2230 which I consider to be the max for those hulls as far as power plants ( my comfort level )

I originally thought the Castle 2028 was the exact same size as the Neu 2230 but in reality it is slightly smaller so maybe it is a good fit . there is only one way to find out and whats to say you have to run it at max output . My Sniper is an awesome sport boat on 6 & 8 cell combo's , and an animal on 10cells and up

Hey my friend if you do please post the build , she will be a gooder

I think it matters on what you will be doing with it. Racing on a course or all out running in a straight line. Many customers email me after reaching their goals with youtube videos of their boats running fast in a straight line, but those boats would never last a minute on a course with prop wash and boat wakes.

For anyone wondering, here are the dimensions/specs of a Neu 2230(non finned) vs a 2028, based on Neu's and Castle's charts:

            Neu 2230 725kv
            Wt: 48 oz
            Dia: 2.45 in. - 62mm
            Length: 4.7 in. - 119mm
            Rm: .TBD
            Io @ 10V: TBD
            Continuous Wattage: 5000W
            Max rpm: 40k
            Max Voltage: 55v

            Castle 2028 780kv
            Wt: 44 oz
            Dia: 57mm (w/out fins 53mm, based on 1717 fins)
            Length: 113mm
Max rpm: 30k (as listed by Castle)
Max Voltage: 10s(based on max rpm)

The Neu is a bit bigger, 5.3% longer, 14% larger diameter, 8% heavier.

            I'm bettin the 2028 is a beast though...........................maybe 80% as powerful???

Dont fret Peter. I did the same thing at first some weeks back and if you compare the Neu data parallel to the CC/Neu you see it more aligns itself with a Neu 2225. They are close, almost a perfect match.

So you boys definately think this motor will overpower a 2215 by a decent margin? I want more power then the 2215 for my sniper... I see steve has these puppies in stock... If you guys think i will be happy with it I am gonna pull the trigger, I have a basically new etti 200HV esc for this to play with (catboi had the etti HV200 in the pt21 I bought from him, with only a 1515y 1y, a little overkill... I replaced it with a hydra 240 now in the pt21 and the etti needs a partner in crime.... lmk gents, steve only has a few left!!!

I could lend you a 1/8 scale PT hydro to put it in but you would have to do some work lol
