No it won't work look at the flat spots on the finned can.... That's what the "O" ring sits on... Looks to me like it would t be worth trying.... I am sending mine back and getting the right motor... Also there is something about the wiring too... Apparantly you can't shorten the motor leads either... Not that I would want to but here are several differences... Plus I want 1580kv as I want to spin a big prop on 5s2p... That last 80kv I want!! Lol:):)

the fins are ground to the can not the can ground with a flat spot
so if the o-rings seat to the can it should work, but if it needs the fins to seal then it will not work
and the fins are not 100% ground to the can, there is just a small amount left on the two sides

I guess maybe you could machine ALL the cooling fins off and use a leopard jacket or something...I dont think anyone makes a jacket that seals between the fins though.

I think you could make a jacket work, but you would have to jb weld or something where the flat spot meets the oring. Or a real thick bead of RTV around the oring.

Yeah not surprising. The sound of people chatting was quite high when I talked to them and there were several interruptions during conversation. I'd say they are BUSY!

Still, it's worth waiting a week for such a deal IMO.

BTW- the flat spot in the fins will cause the O-ring to roll and will tear as you're slipping the can on. The fins hold the small o-rings in place. There's no way to hold them while they are being compressed during installation. They will just roll and tear.

                            Ask me how I know.

Ha ha... the extra 80kv are gonna get me just that little bit more rpm... I currently run my mean machine on a 1500kv 1515 1.5y on 5s mostly.... so I am going to use a larger prop with the 1717 and spin the prop 1680 more times a minute too...lol..
