Has anyone ever actually tried one of the ARC motors? The guy selling them makes claims they are as good as a NEU. Hard to believe.

Me too. I bet they are 2 pole, either way they are the size of 1415. Not a 1515 Neu.

Also considering that when the 580L fails it wipes out your ESC! One of my friends had two 580's take out two castle escs! I had one take out a Seaking 180. Problem is they run really hot, demagnetize, and then demand too many amps and the esc fails. By the time your figure up the carnage, the NEU 1527 is cheap!

Considering i fried a 580L and a KB45, then went to a 15271Y with a larger prop, im gonna say yes, they are worth it...........stupid low temps and lots of power.

if the 1527 is cheap then the 1515 and 1521 im connsidering would be a bargen

They list them as 4 pole on the site. They may be just a tad better than a feigao, or run just a bit cooler.............maybe not. Lets let somebody run one and post results.

I just swapped out a feigao 540 9XL (1850ish KV) for a neu 1515 1.5y (1500 KV). The feigao had a bad bearing, and ran hot. The neu runs nice and cool...

I also noticed that on the feigao, there was quite a bit of forward/backward play in the rotor, whereas in the neu there was virtually none.

Hey Chief..............since you have ran both, how does the 1515(40 x 68mm) compare to an XL Feigao(36x74mm) performance-wise?

With 4 poles that means the rotor is most likely a laminated design. If the iron is quality as well as the magnets then they might be worth a try for someone trying to get performance on a budget. The problem is at the price they are listed for you can spend just a few bux more and get a real Castle/Neu. Not to mention you could try one of those xerun motors (1515 1.5Y castle/neu copies) for $28 less. At $120 the arc doesnt seem worth the bother.

Did anyone actually have success running a 580l? I keep hearing sailr and rummy having problem but I'm sure there's more than two people running these.

I have a 580 8L comparing in same hulls with castle and neu 1515, the 580 runs hotter and has a prop limit. if you don't ask too much and you find its limit you are ok. In my opinion the castle or even the hpi tork really worth the money, small difference with the 1515 but the 1515 has more kv options.
                              video 200 which hull?
