    my ultimate seaking 180 cooling block

    Just wanted to show my cooling block I just made to better cool a SeaKing 180. I just didn't think that little heat sink and two small cooling chambers was really up to par. Cool thing is if I blow an esc, I can move it to the next one....and I think it's pretty sexy too!

    Here the start. Nothing fancy. Solid piece of 6061 aluminum



    Making sure it fits. Pretty snug...

    I got some misc pieces of cf from china in yesterday. Took about two weeks but the stuff is really nice quality stuff and best of all, cheap lol

      Let's see what it looks like with the top on....








      Are you wondering yet where the water is gonna go? Hmmmm. I wasn't gonna drill a couple holes and loop them. I wanted capacity. Alot of it. Might was well. So it has two chambers connected by a small slit. Guess the idea is to slow the flow a little. Sounds good anyway! Lol

      I know my machining of the chambers isn't perfect. Old manual mill and eye balling.

          Couple more pics... (I have to pic up fittings tomorrow. ..I broke one just now over tightening it)






          I didn't like that silly loop....just something else to get in the way so enters and exits on same side. Simple.

              Travis, that is wonderful!
              I wonder if it is practical to orient the water fittings in-line with the wires , i had toyed with the idea that they would enter/exit on the top vis
              a 90 degrees fittings.
              This should have been the SeaKing 180 V3!!!!!

                  Personally I would of gone with an aluminium top plate to get better heat dissipation, the carbon plate will retain more heat.

                    The heat dissipation will be through the water flow. What good would an aluminum top plate do to dissipate heat in a small closed up chamber that will retain the heat anyway?

                      Thanks! The water lines actually could be done in any direction but for my layout this is best.

                        when are you going to try it? considered doing this to my 180, but it runs cool in 2 setups 4082 1600kv on 6-s. rigger and cat.

                          Why do you think they use aluminium as a cooling plate & not carbon, because the aluminium dissipates heat & carbon does not. You need water to cool as well as metal for heat transfer & dissipation, copper cooling plates work even better than aluminium but at extra weight.

                            I'm not gonna argue with you. On the internet, someone always has to put there .02 in and hasn't even tried or made one themself. I'm sure with that being said you know what your saying as fact, right? Like you tested my cooling block? No. You haven't. And too add to it this isn't the first one I've made and it DOES do its job just fine with a carbon top plate. Thanks for your
