Has a worthy ESC been born? The Castle XLX2 looks to be an excellent ESC.

I did something a little different with my XLX2's

    Question about the XLX2
How do you tell the difference between the RX wire and the AUX wire, they are NOT marked?

The cable with the white wire in it is the signal one. I take all of those out of the connector to get them out of the way. They aren't needed.

        Don,

You want to keep the three wires closest to the end and ditch the red/white/black wires. Those are the redundant BEC power wires. Maybe the white wire is a secondary signal input, but I have always used the orange looking one.

*EDIT*: Per the manual the white wire is for secondary control modes, like braking torque adjustment on the fly. Mostly targeting car guys. It is not a replacement for the orange colored input signal wire.
The red and black wires are the secondary BEC current carrying wires. These are intended for applications with high BEC loads like the Xmaxx where guys are running 1100oz digital steering servo's. The second set of wires are there to reduce the stress on the primary set. You can remove them as most boaters do or you can also use them to power fans and pumps which run off the same voltage. i.e. you cannot set two different BEC voltages, just one which can be used in parallel circuits. Hopefully I am not making this more confusing.

The white wire has the 'AUX' signal. The orange one is the standard receiver connection.
The documentation tells you that the 'AUX' wire must be connected, that is only true if you pull the full BEC capability (20A).
If you just have a standard servo setup and nothing crazy connected to the BEC circuit, that wire does not need to be connected.

On a twin setup do you have to remove one of the red wires from one of the ESC's?

Yes...but, there's a better/smarter way. First, do NOT remove/cut a red wire on either ESC. As you'll be plugging both ESCs into a Y-connector cable, and then plugging the Y-cable into Ch2 on the Rx, remove/cut the red wire close to the ESC end, but (obviously) cute ONLY one.

Even better, there are Y-connectors made specifically for boats that have one ESC connector with three wires, and the other ESC connector with only two.

Who ever said that these ESC's have a built in Spark Arrester circuit??

I am running 8S and burning up my plugs every time that I plug them in.

What size resister would you need for an anti spark on 8S?

                    Try a 1-5 Ohm 1W resistor. https://www.mcmaster.com/1348N234/

I just checked the resisters on my 240A swordfish HV - 4s TO 12s
It is 10 ohm ? on the Wattage??
No spark at all on 8S

                          People still use Y leads?
I thought most running twins would be using TX mixing, especially with these, maybe i a world appart on the other side of the pond, but I can't imagine anyone running a twin XLX2 powered boat on a crappy ex RTR non computerised radio.

                            Paul,

I still run a Y-harness on my twin rigger with XLX2's with a 4PX for the simple reason that a Y-harness ensures equal signals.

Exactly. Plus, NO programming needed (on the Tx). Simply program both ESCs the same (except motor directions), plug them in, and your ready to go. Couldn't be any easier.

Suggest switching to QS8 connectors, they have anti-spark build in.
