Esc going into protection on blackjack

Got the new 3831 dynamite motor and can't run boat with any bigger prop then a 642, or 445 with out going into protection mode. Motor or esc or batts cool. Esc is set to 7.5 timing using 6000ma 70 c batts. 2c series don't own a data logger but don't understand , put a 645 on it protection after aboat 30 seconds 120a speed control should handle it.

Was the new motor installed for fun or was the old one damaged? I run pretty aggressive props on that same setup, not for long, and don't have shut down issues. Are you certain the new motor is aligned perfectly and there's no binding of the flex cable at the entrance to the stuffing tube?

On 4s or 6s? I may have experienced the same thing on 4s but thought it was my batteries not having enough balls...Now that you say this it may have been the esc shutting down.

A 645 is a lot of prop for a 2000kv 6S setup. My ABC 1715 runs a full 4min on two 3S, 5000mAh packs and just a handful of SAW passes on a 1716, 543 and 643 octura comparison respectively. Whats the gap between your strut and a table surface?

I just noticed you are running 2c (2s).. It's been a few months ago when I experienced it and my ESC had a flashing light when I got the boat rescued back to shore can't remember if it was red or green...red I think. It ran for only about 45 seconds then stopped in the water my first thought was a wire came unsoldered, then I figured it was my batteries I were using. Hadn't had time to try it again.

Sorry, I had incorrectly assumed you were running 6S, didn't see 4S mentioned. 3.4V is too high of a LVC on that 120A ESC in my experience. With good high discharge rate packs, 3.2V is the highest setting I can use without tripping early. FWIW, I don't run to LVC anyways and time my runs with my transmitter.

I log 140amps on a 2200kv 4s setup with a x442, maybe the 120amp esc is not enough. Different boats and lower kv but it might be close.
