    Seaking Pro 120A

Was poking around and noticed this, anyone run one of these or is it a completely new unit?

OOH, that's promising as I am looking for a 120 for my outrigger build

Also looks like the wifi express module will allow smartphone access to changing parameters in the esc, and looks like some Datalogging capabilities?

It's low voltage and single-sided cooling, but looks good for smaller boats. Bunch of features!

Directed more at the European market for weight restricted classes. I'm sure they are very good escs for many applications however hifei is coming out with new stuff also, x series. They are geared to non weight restriction running with robust cooling and being potted.

Nice, got a Seaking 130A-HV for my 8S system now... I like that data logger in another unit, name escapes me at the moment... The more cooling, the better! I'm using a 35% derate on the ESC. These things are just like FETs, the stated voltage rating is not really usable...

Yeah, just checked.. Looking at the Swordfish Pro+ 150A HV, with data logging. Seems to me, they will rule the market until competition puts data logging into their units. Can think of no better way to help evaluate boat changes. Next, built-in GPS, nice!

Would this 120A be sufficient to run with a 2030kv out of a UL1, or would the 180 V3 work better? My plans are to put this set up in a stiletto with a smc 5200 90c 4s2p. Im experienced with large scale gas but new to electric and still figuring things out.

If another motor/esc combo would suit a tunnel hull better, I'd be open to suggestions. Thanks

You will be fine with that esc on a 2030Kv yellow can motor.

Ray is right, it SHOULD be fine. But realize that a BLDC motor will not current limit itself. IF you have something out of whack, too much prop, running too wet in the water, sticky driveline, anything like that, the motor will continue to pull current and burn the motor and/or the ESC. That is why I switched from the Sea King ESC to the Swordfish, so I can get a data log of the running current, and bring my setups slowly to higher performance levels. The only other way, is to run carefully timed runs and do thermal readings and chart what is going on. But I feel thermal readings are not enough. You may be running too cool, and leaving some added performance off the table. Your current levels may be fine, but your water system is not functioning properly to provide the needed cooling. After using the Swordfish, I'll never go back to an ESC that does not have data logging. These are getting so popular, it's hard to get your hands on one at times!
