Just as a comparison, I run that same motor in a 36" mono spinning an X447/3 blade prop.
A race including a mill lap lasts about 1:40sec.
A pair of 3s 5800mah 60c packs are down to about 25-30 percent at the end of the race.
So a pair of 5000 40C packs must be hurting after more than 2 minutes. Especially if there is a lot of stopping & starting, or if the hull is running wet.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

Many Turnigy batts puff in normal conditions BUT 5 minutes running can kill very shortly a batt.Anyway check the inside of your batt and see if it is a 5.0A.....I had a similar issue with a Turnigy pack and figured out that that junk batt was only 4,5A...there is an old thread about this. It would be nice to have that option for racing here in Australia, but we are only allowed to run 1p and with a total weight of 950 grams for the 6s pack. And 650 grams for a 4s1p pack. So that limits prop size for us if we don't want to destroy batteries.
But yes, for a sport boat 6s2p would be the way to go. Or drop the kv rating down to 1250kv, or so, for less current draw.

Agh...well you have a good point then. So maybe go down on kv a little like previously recommended.

There are some complaints about the new Hyperion packs puffing prematurely under normal use. I have read a number of threads over at RC Groups complaining about the new Hyperion G6 HV packs. I have one of these in my stock and only have a couple cycles through it so far, not even down to minimum yet so I'll have to keep an eye on it as i continue to break the pack in.
