But I can tell you this much, I wasn't going anywhere! I would have walked around that lake all night.
I agree, anytime I'm using a big battery like 5000mah 8mm bullets and 6.5mm or 8mm on motors. If they melt something else is wrong. The connectors are nice but having lots of packs and different configurations I can just plug batteries into each other and not have additional connectors. (Y harness, 2p, different # of pack cells,,,,)

Anyone tried Traxxas connectors from their short course trucks.? Look pretty tough to me.

As I heard the Traxxas connectors is only good for 75A, same as the genuine Deans. EC5 on the other hand is good for 120A. I would go with the 6.5 bullets or bigger with those batteries, but the EC5 will work fine to the stock motor.

              Best battery connectors...

Hey guys, I was at my LHS yesterday with my Green Castle polarized connectors. I wanted to get them soldered on but they didn't know how to set them up... Neither do I! Does anyone have a video of soldering these, I will be doing ittmyself. I am also going to install the Castle cap pack and upgrade wiring to 10 gauge.
Why are you bothering me? I want to see your boat!

I really like those and have put them on all my packs. Don't have a video, but real quick:
-Strip positive wire on battery. Leave negative wire insulated/taped up.
                -Tin the wire.
                -Tin the female contact.
-Insert positive wire through the positive-marked side of the green housing from the rear.
-Solder the wire to the female contact. This is done just like any other bullet connector out there. Great video here.
-Pull the wire back through the plastic housing until the metal contact enters the housing.
-Push the metal contact into the housing from the front until you hear/feel it pop into place.
-I found that the end of a Sharpie marker works great to push on the metal contact to get it to fully seat in the housing.
-The contact will be subflush to the outer edge of the housing by a good couple millimeters or so (off the top of my head)
                -Repeat with the negative wire.

For the male side, same process.

You can also desolder wires from these connectors by taking a small flat blade screwdriver, sticking it into the back of the housing and pushing on the outer rim of the rear of the metal contacts. Might have to bang on the screwdriver in a hammer-like fashion a couple times to get them to unseat, but easy to do.

The only problem with these style of connectors is they limit you to how you can hook up your packs without adding in extra connectors.
No straight forward way to connect packs in series without making up a harness. Added connectors = another failure point and added resistance.
Fine if you run a single pack or a 2P setup, not so fine for series connections like you use in most RTR boats running a pair of 2s packs....
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

They would be great but I think they are to big for 10G. Maybe 8G would be better...
I have gone SK180 with the Leopard 1600kv. EC5 connectors for the 3s packs. I have the stock ESC for sale in the Traxxas marketplace.

I have my Revolt set up for a pair of 2S in series using those connectors. ESC positive to positive, bridge wire from neg to positive, neg to ESC neg. No problem. Want to run a single 4S pack? Easy, got an adapter made up from a single connector to close the circuit, taking the place of one of the battery connections.

All good unless you want to run 2P.
