Can I use 4S Lipo in my Futaba transmitter?

    Hi guys

I recently modded my GT3B transmitter for 3S lipo power instead of the 6 AA batteries it normally takes. The difference is a huge improvement

I also have a FM Futaba transmitter that I would like to convert to Lipo. The transmitter used 8 AA batteries.

Can I use a 4S lipo battery without frying anything? Or should I use a a 3S lipo instead?

If I use a 3S lipo I am concern that the voltage might be too low and if 4S too high

    Thanks a lot

My guess would be too much power for it. But I did see some where someone made a volt regulater

8x1.5 = 12. 3s lipo, fully charged is 12.6v. Strange though my gt3b used 8 AA battering before I converted to lipo

I use 3s in my Futaba 6EX and it is great, the voltage is a little higher throughout the discharge, Saughnessy mentioned the fully charged voltage, but the nominal voltage is also higher 8x1.2v=10v, 3s LiPo 3x3.7v=11.1v, and empty, 8x1v=8v 3s LiPo 3x3v=9V, the only downside is that once the low battery alarm goes off you need to charge up within 10mins or wreck your battery, whereas with NiCd/NiMh you probably have half an hour.

I have switched my Futaba and Flysky's to 3S lipos and not looking back. You do have to be careful not to leave your TX on as once you bury a lipo it's not comming back. If that becomes a problem then on to 3S Life's.
